Controls Technician

Tridium Niagara Certification Training
Sign-On Bonus Available for Qualified Candidates!

SUMMARY:

Responsible for the installation, programming, commissioning, troubleshooting, repair and maintenance of building automation systems. A successful HVAC Controls Technician applies engineering principles and practices to complete assigned projects, designs cost effective solutions to meet project requirements and develops positive working relationships with all company divisions and customers.

POSITION TYPE: Full-Time, overtime may be required based upon project needs

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE THE FOLLOWING:

  • Possesses knowledge of Mechanical Systems and Controls.
  • Able to interpret controls drawings, plans and specifications.
  • Able to comprehend basic HVAC concepts.
  • Maintains technical knowledge through required training and consistent review of product catalogs, specifications and dealer websites.
  • Designs and programs systems utilizing direct digital controls and automation systems for comfort control and energy savings.
  • Configures programs, graphics and alarms for site specific control systems.
  • Creates installation, submittal and as-built drawings, and assists engineering in related close-out documents.
  • Assists with final validation of system operation.
  • Provides project team with technical direction and assists with programming, electrical terminations, commissioning, graphic development, test and startup as required.
  • Utilizes a variety of hand tools and test equipment, and maintains tools and equipment for proper functionality.
  • Demonstrates ability to manage time and job needs across multiple projects.
  • Serves as a direct customer contact, provides training and sustains customer satisfaction by investigating concerns, implementing corrective action, communicating with staff and providing customer feedback.
  • Some travel with occasional overnight stays.
  • Flexibility to work outside normal work hours/weekends, as required.
  • Other duties as required.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

QUALIFICATIONS:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.   • High school diploma or equivalent and a minimum of 3 years of experience in control/mechanical systems are required.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products, Microsoft Project and engineering drawing tools.
  • Familiarity with the concepts of new construction, renovation/retrofit and service project management.
  • Experienced and knowledgeable in contracting processes associated with the installation of building automation systems.
  • Familiarity with the operation of energy management systems, HVAC systems and temperature controls.
  • Alerton Controls and Tridium Niagara AX experience preferred.
  • Ability to work independently and unsupervised.
  • Customer service oriented, able to interact with and build a good rapport with customers.
  • Ability to effectively present information to customers and team members individually or in a group setting.
