Description
The Facilities Division is hiring a Mechanical Maintenance Operations Technician I that performs duties in themaintenance and operation of mechanical systems. Installs, repairs, and maintains mechanical equipment such asHVAC, refrigeration, ventilation, electrical systems, and associated equipment.
Job duties include but are not limited to the following:
  • Install, repair and maintain air conditioning, heating, refrigeration, ventilation, electricalsystems.
  • Inspect and check the working performance of equipment according to specifications.
  • Repair and maintain electrical, plumbing and sewage operations.
  • Performs work in grounds maintenance functions of cutting grass, trimming, operates powerblowers and trimmers. Remove snow with mobile equipment. Performs janitorial duties includingcleaning restrooms, sweeping, moping, vacuuming, emptying trash and other miscellaneousjanitorial duties.
  • Maintain parts, supplies and equipment to maintain established maintenance operations.
  • Prepare and maintain records of all work and maintenance activities.

Minimum Requirements
EDUCATION:NONE
EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, OR SKILLS:Two years of experience in the maintenance or repair of HVAC, refrigeration, ventilation, or electrical systems.
Substitute EDUCATION for EXPERIENCE:Formal training in one of the above or related fields will substitute for the experience on a year-for-year basis.
Substitute EXPERIENCE for EDUCATION:NONE
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS (AGE, LICENSURE, REGULATION, ETC.):Must be 18 years of age.
Working Conditions
May be required to take care of emergency repairs twenty-four hours a day.
Probationary Period
This job has an initial and promotional probationary period of 6 months, except as provided in KRS 18A.111.
