About the Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Executive Director / Childcare Center Director to lead the daily operations of a high-quality childcare center in Tallahassee, Florida.

The Center Director will be responsible for creating a safe, nurturing, educational, and well-organized environment for children while providing leadership and oversight to teachers and center staff. This position combines childcare administration, staff management, parent relations, compliance, budgeting, and program development.

The ideal candidate is an experienced childcare leader who is organized, dependable, professional, and passionate about early childhood education.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide overall leadership and direction for the childcare center.
  • Develop and maintain a clear vision for the center while ensuring quality standards are met.
  • Ensure compliance with state and local childcare regulations and organizational policies.
  • Oversee curriculum development and educational programming.
  • Supervise, coach, and support teachers and center staff.
  • Identify staff training needs and assist with professional development.
  • Maintain accurate and timely student records, assessments, screenings, portfolios, and parent conference documentation.
  • Build strong relationships with parents and families through consistent communication and outreach.
  • Plan and facilitate parent meetings and family engagement activities.
  • Oversee payroll, human resources, billing, accounts payable/receivable, and other administrative functions.
  • Assist with developing and managing the center's operating budget.
  • Monitor enrollment, tuition billing, and payment processes.
  • Maintain a safe, clean, healthy, and well-organized facility.
  • Develop and implement illness, emergency, and safety procedures.
  • Work effectively with regulatory agencies and maintain required documentation.
  • Address employee and parent concerns professionally and resolve conflicts in a timely manner.
  • Implement strategic goals and initiatives that support the center's mission.
  • Promote a positive workplace culture and maintain strong employee morale.
  • Communicate staff performance concerns and improvement plans to senior leadership.
  • Approve meal plans and food purchases to support children's nutritional needs.
  • Stay current on childcare regulations, early childhood education practices, and professional development opportunities.
Qualifications
  • Previous experience in childcare administration, center management, early childhood education, or a related leadership position.
  • Demonstrated experience supervising and managing staff.
  • Strong knowledge of childcare operations, safety practices, and regulatory compliance.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong organizational, leadership, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Experience with staff scheduling, payroll, budgeting, billing, or HR functions is highly preferred.
