General Position Summary
The Senior Front-End Engineer will design, develop, and optimize modern eCommerce experiences across Shopify and related digital commerce platforms. This role will lead customer-facing storefront development and build and support integrations among Shopify, enterprise applications, third-party services, and internal platforms. The ideal candidate combines deep front-end engineering expertise with hands-on experience with Shopify, APIs, and systems integration, and collaborates across Product, UX, Marketing, Merchandising, StoreOps, ERP, and Engineering teams to deliver scalable, secure, and high-performing digital experiences.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
  • Design, develop, and maintain Shopify storefronts using Shopify Plus, Liquid, JavaScript, TypeScript, HTML, and CSS.
  • Build responsive, accessible, and high-performing experiences across desktop, tablet, and mobile devices.
  • Develop custom Shopify themes, reusable components, sections, app extensions, and checkout extensions.
  • Architect and support integrations between Shopify and ERP, OMS, PIM, CRM, payment, tax, fulfillment, search, and marketing platforms.
  • Develop and consume REST and GraphQL APIs, webhooks, and event-driven services for real-time and batch integrations.
  • Build reusable React and Next.js components and contribute to shared front-end standards and design systems.
  • Partner with UX/UI designers to translate requirements and design concepts into scalable, production-ready experiences.
  • Optimize Core Web Vitals, SEO, accessibility, observability, site reliability, and conversion performance.
  • Collaborate with backend, integration, security, data, architecture, product, quality assurance, and business teams.
  • Troubleshoot production issues and perform root-cause analysis across storefront, application, API, and integration layers.
  • Participate in architecture reviews and recommend improvements for scalability, performance, maintainability, and security.
  • Mentor engineers through code reviews, technical coaching, documentation, and engineering best practices.
  • Design, implement, and support automated CI/CD pipelines for Shopify themes, applications, and extensions using Shopify CLI, Git, and Azure DevOps, including automated validation, environment promotion, release management, production deployments, and rollback procedures.deployments.
  • Manage Shopify theme lifecycle, including preview themes, version control, Theme Access, Shopify CLI, deployment automation, and production publishing while preserving store configuration and ensuring reliable rollback capabilities.
  • Experience implementing Shopify customer authentication using the Customer Account API, passwordless one-time passcodes, OAuth 2.0, PKCE, and secure session management.
  • Participate in Agile ceremonies and stay current on Shopify capabilities, web technologies, and eCommerce trends

Job Required Knowledge and Skills
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
  • 7+ years of software development experience, including 5+ years focused on front-end engineering.
  • 3+ years of hands-on Shopify development experience, including experience with Shopify Plus.
  • Advanced proficiency in JavaScript, TypeScript, HTML5, CSS3, and modern responsive design.
  • Strong experience with React, Next.js, or a comparable modern front-end framework.
  • Hands-on experience with Shopify Liquid, Admin API, Storefront API, GraphQL, webhooks, metafields, metaobjects, Shopify Functions, and checkout extensibility.
  • Experience integrating Shopify with enterprise platforms such as ERP, OMS, PIM, CRM, fulfillment, payment, or marketing systems.
  • Strong understanding of REST and GraphQL APIs, authentication, web security, integration patterns, and error handling.
  • Experience with Git-based workflows and CI/CD platforms such as GitHub or Azure DevOps.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, communication, collaboration, and stakeholder-management skills.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience integrating Shopify with Microsoft Dynamics 365 or other enterprise ERP platforms.
  • Retail, digital commerce, or omnichannel industry experience.
  • Experience with headless or composable commerce architectures.
  • Familiarity with Azure Functions, Logic Apps, Service Bus, API Management, and event-driven architecture.
  • Experience with commerce ecosystem platforms such as Algolia, Bloomreach, Nosto, Klaviyo, or comparable technologies.
  • Experience with Google Analytics, Google Tag Manager, experimentation, personalization, and A/B testing platforms.
  • Experience with automated testing tools such as Jest, Cypress, or Playwright.

Work Environment
