The Role:

TheEngineeringManager, MarTech& Headless Commerce Integration (CMS / AEM / Shopify)owns the end-to-end strategy, implementation, and operations of the content and integration layer that connects Adobe Experience Manager (AEM) and Adobe Target with our headless e-commerce platform (Shopify Plus) forOnStar digital commerce.

This leader drives how rich, segmented content authored in AEM and targeted via Adobe Target flows reliably into our OnStar.com and advisor-facing Shopify-based storefronts and other OnStar digital experiences, supportingmulti-region, and multi-channel journeys.

You will lead a specialized web development and integration team focused on OnStar, acting as the architectural guide for headless web experiences, data pipelines, and APIs (GraphQL, REST, webhooks) while serving as a primary strategic partner to central GM platform teams that own the Adobe and commerce platforms. Your work will ensure that OnStar content creators can move quickly while the underlying systemsremainsecure, scalable, andhighly available.

What You'll Do

Platform Ownership & Strategy

  • Own theAEM/CMS vision, roadmap, and technical direction.

  • Define and drivecontent architecture, templates, components, and governanceto support reusable, scalable experiences.

  • Partner with product and marketing to prioritize CMS capabilities that unlockcross-segmentation, personalization, and experimentation.

  • Ensure the platform meetsperformance, security, accessibility, and compliancerequirements.

Cross-Segmentation & Content Architecture
  • Design and governcontent modelsthat support audience- or segment-based experiences (e.g., brand, market, customer segment, product line).

  • Enablecontent re-use and inheritanceacross regions, brands, and channels while allowing localized flexibility.

  • Partner with analytics and experimentation teams to ensure content structures supportA/B testing, targeting, and insights(e.g., Adobe Target, Analytics, or equivalent).

  • Define standards fortaxonomies, tagging, and metadatato power search, recommendations, and reporting.

Web & Experience Delivery

  • Collaborate withweb application teams(e.g., React/Next.js, Shopify, micro-frontends) to integrate AEM-delivered content into customer-facing experiences.

  • Ensure robustAPIs, caching, andintegrationpatternsbetween AEM and downstream web properties and services.

  • Partner with UX/design to definecomponentlibraries and authoring experiencesthat enable rapid iteration without sacrificing quality or performance.

  • Drive practices thatmaintainpage performance (Core Web Vitals), availability, and scalabilityfor content-driven experiences.

Operations, Reliability & Vendor Management

  • Establish and overseeoperational runbooks, SLOs/SLAs, monitoring, and incidentresponsefor AEM/CMS.

  • Partner with infrastructure/SRE teams and vendors (e.g., Adobe) to manageenvironments, releases, and upgrades.

  • Own relationships withimplementation partners and agencies, defining clear scopes, deliverables, and quality expectations.

  • Drive continuous improvement throughpost-incident reviews, capacity planning, and cost optimization.

People Leadership

  • Lead and develop ahigh-performing teamof CMS/AEM engineers, authors, and/or administrators, including hiring, onboarding, coaching, and performance management.

  • Set clear goals, provide regular feedback, and supportcareer development and planningfor team members (including senior ICs and future leaders).

  • Establish healthyteam rituals and ways of working(1:1s, standups, retros, planning) that promote transparency, accountability, and continuous improvement.

  • Fosterinclusive, cross-functional collaborationwith product, design, marketing, and engineering partners, resolvingconflictsandaligning onpriorities when trade-offs arerequired.

  • Championmodern engineering and product practices(e.g., agile delivery, experimentation, data-driven decision making) and model the behaviors you expect from the team.

Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications)

  • 3+ yearsof experience indigital experience, CMS platforms, or web engineering, including2+ yearsowning or leading AEM or similar enterprise CMS.

  • 10 years of relevant experience

  • Demonstrated experience designing and operatingAEM Sites(or equivalent), including templates, components, workflows, permissions, and publishing models.

  • Hands-on background working withweb technologies(e.g., HTML/CSS/JS, React, APIs, CDNs, caching, performance optimization).
    Experience withcontent modeling, taxonomies, and segmentationto support multi-brand or multi-region digital experiences.

  • Proven ability tolead teams and/or vendors, manage complex roadmaps, and deliver against clear KPIs.

  • Demonstratedpeople management experience(e.g., 2+ years managing engineers or cross-functional digital teams, including hiring, performance management, and coaching).

  • Strongstakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to translate between business goals and technical solutions.

What Will Give You A Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications)

  • Experience withAdobe Experience Cloudecosystem (e.g., AEM as a Cloud Service, Adobe Target, Adobe Analytics, Launch/Tags).

  • Backend development experience (Java, Spring Boot, Microservices)

  • Background ineCommerce, subscriptions, or digital customer journeysacross multiple brands or markets.

  • Experience withheadless e-commerce platformssuch asShopify Plus(Online Store, Checkout, Hydrogen,metafields), with a focus onsystem integration and data synchronizationbetween Shopify and AEM/other CMS platforms.

  • Experience integrating AEM withheadless/front-end frameworks(e.g., React, Next.js, Hydrogen, SPA frameworks) and microservices.

  • Familiarity withmodern DevOps/SRE practices(CI/CD, infrastructure-as-code, observability, reliability engineering).

  • Experience leadingcross-functional initiativesinvolving marketing, product, and engineering atenterprisescale.
