Skills in Next.js, along with React and JavaScript, remain valuable for developers in this field.

What are some common challenges Next.js Developers face when working on large-scale applications?

Next.js Developers working on large-scale applications often encounter challenges related to performance optimization, such as ensuring efficient server-side rendering and managing code splitting for faster load times. They may also need to address complex routing scenarios and handle data fetching from multiple APIs without slowing down the user experience. Job description

Pilot Spring is looking for a sharp, fast-moving Full-Stack Product Engineer TA to support founders during a live, in-person 3-day build sprint.
This role is ideal for someone who is strong in Next.js, React, frontend systems, API integrations, auth, and product debugging - and who can help founders move from messy ideas to real working MVPs quickly.
You will work directly with founders, operators, and builders to unblock product issues in real time, help shape working product flows, and keep teams moving toward a launch-ready MVP or profitable pilot.
This is not a passive teaching role. This is a live execution role.
Key responsibilities include:
  • Supporting founders live during a 3-day build sprint
  • Helping participants implement and debug Next.js / React product flows
  • Unblocking frontend issues including forms, UI state, auth flows, API integrations, routing, dashboard pages, and onboarding flows
  • Translating rough founder ideas into practical product decisions
  • Pair-programming when needed
  • Helping participants deploy and troubleshoot frontend environments on Vercel
  • Collaborating with the backend / AI TA to resolve cross-stack issues
  • Keeping participants focused on what actually needs to be built for a usable first version
  • Reducing overbuilding and helping teams cut non-essential scope
  • Providing calm, fast support to technical and non-technical founders alike

  • Strong experience with Next.js
  • Strong experience with modern frontend patterns and component architecture
  • Comfortable working with Tailwind CSS
  • Experience integrating frontend apps with backend APIs
  • Comfortable debugging auth/session issues, API response issues, state bugs, broken form flows, and deployment issues
  • Comfortable deploying and debugging on Vercel
  • Working knowledge of product-oriented full-stack workflows
  • Able to move quickly without needing heavy direction

Strongly preferred:
  • Experience supporting startup MVP builds
  • Experience working with non-technical founders
  • Experience with Stripe, OAuth, webhooks, and Supabase auth/data flows
  • Familiarity with Python backend integration patterns
  • Familiarity with fast-paced pair-programming or live build environments
  • Experience cleaning up messy product ideas into shippable flows

Benefits

  • High-impact contract role in a live founder sprint
  • Work directly with startup founders building real MVPs
  • Fast-paced, collaborative environment
  • Opportunity for repeat event work and ongoing involvement

  • Meaningful hands-on role shaping products from idea to working demo
