Director of Next Generation Ministries
Northern Virginia

  • Full-Time
  • Scope: Birth through Young Adulthood (Children, Students, Special Needs, Young Adults, and Family Ministry)


ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY

  • A growing multi-campus church in Northern Virginia is seeking a passionate and experienced Director of Next Generation Ministries to lead and oversee discipleship efforts for children, students, young adults, and families
  • This strategic leadership role is responsible for cultivating spiritually healthy, relationally engaging, and operationally excellent ministry environments that help the next generation grow in their faith and develop lasting relationships with Jesus
  • The ideal candidate is a high-capacity leader who thrives in building teams, developing leaders, equipping families, and aligning ministry strategy across multiple age groups and ministry areas


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Strategy & Discipleship Leadership

  • Lead and implement a comprehensive discipleship strategy for children, students, and young adults
  • Align ministry programming and initiatives with the churchโ€™s mission, theology, and long-term vision
  • Collaborate with church leadership and support teams to maintain consistency and excellence across ministry areas
  • Evaluate ministry effectiveness and adapt strategies as needed

Team Leadership & Development

  • Recruit, hire, supervise, and develop ministry staff and coordinators
  • Build and empower volunteer leadership teams across all Next Gen ministries
  • Foster a healthy team culture marked by collaboration, accountability, encouragement, and spiritual growth
  • Identify and develop future ministry leaders and leadership pipelines

Volunteer Systems & Care

  • Oversee volunteer onboarding, training, scheduling, and ongoing development
  • Ensure volunteers are equipped, supported, and cared for spiritually and relationally
  • Promote a culture of servant leadership and shared ownership of ministry

Family Ministry Partnership

  • Develop and lead a family discipleship strategy that equips parents to disciple their children at home
  • Provide resources, training, and support for families navigating various stages of life
  • Partner with pastoral leadership to provide wisdom and care in sensitive family situations

Leadership & Church Collaboration

  • Serve as a key member of the churchโ€™s leadership team
  • Support campus-wide initiatives, events, and ministry efforts
  • Help contextualize broader church vision and strategy for the local congregation

Operational Oversight

  • Manage ministry budgets, calendars, systems, and operational processes
  • Ensure child safety procedures, background checks, and ministry best practices are consistently followed
  • Steward ministry resources effectively while pursuing operational excellence


QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:

  • Clear calling to vocational ministry with a mature and growing Christian faith
  • Experience leading childrenโ€™s, student, or family ministries in a multi-staff or large-church environment preferred
  • Proven ability to lead teams, develop leaders, and manage multiple ministry areas simultaneously
  • Strong organizational, communication, and relational leadership skills
  • Ability to inspire and connect with children, students, parents, volunteers, and staff
  • Bachelorโ€™s degree required; graduate theological education preferred
