Job description


Position Title: Title I Family Engagement Liaison
Division: Family & Student Support Services/Title I
Reports To: Title I Family Engagement Specialist
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
Salary Schedule: SS3-3
Work Days: 190
Essential Duties:
  1. Manage space and operations of the school's Parent Resource Center; greet and assist parents.
  2. Develop and maintain a Parent Resource library and provide training for parents in the use of materials.
  3. Assist parents with the understanding of Title I Part A, ESSA, reports cards, compacts, assessments, progress reports, Parent Rights & Responsibilities, and school improvement.
  4. Calculate and maintain accurate data of family engagement documents, input summary reports, and evaluation summaries.
  5. Submit all required Title I documentation to the comprehensive database for Title I am monitoring by the posted deadlines.
  6. Monitor and maintain records acquired by Federal Programs and the Georgia Department of Education Family-School Partnerships.
  7. Assist in the development/implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of the school's Parent and Family Engagement Program, Plan, and School-Family Compact.
  8. Coordinate academic-based learning opportunities/workshops for parents at flexible times.
  9. Maintain consistent communication with all parents, families, and school staff regarding family engagement and partnering in the student's education and achievement.
  10. Create, acquire, and maintain meeting documentation to include invitations, attendance records, agendas, presentations, notes or minutes if applicable, and meeting evaluations.
  11. Conduct professional learning sessions with staff to build their capacity to effectively communicate and partner with parents in their child's education; may facilitate as assigned by the principal or designate to another.
  12. Maintain consistent communication with all parents, families, and school staff regarding family engagement and partnering in their student's education and achievement via multiple methods (ex. school newsletter and/or Parent Center newsletter, and/or website).
  13. Regularly navigate the GaDOE Family-School Partnerships webpage to stay abreast of State compliance and training webinars.
  14. Organize and facilitate education and training opportunities, meetings, and activities for parents to engage in their student's education.
  15. Assist in the development/implementation and monitoring of the Parent and Family Engagement budget (1%).
  16. Provide orientation for all parents new to the school.
  17. Organize volunteer program; recruit and provide continuous training for volunteers.
  18. Manage family engagement surveys and annual evaluations of workshops, meetings, and overall program.
  19. Work closely with school administration and leadership to develop a calendar of events for the school community to build parent and staff capacity.
  20. Work with parents, families, and school staff to jointly develop and annually revise the School Parent and Family Engagement Plan and the School-Parent Compact.
  21. Serve as liaison between the local school and the Federal Programs Department and the Parent Engagement Specialist.
  22. Participate in teacher conferences, assisting parents with the understanding of progress reports, school progress reports, and report cards, as needed/requested.
  23. Assist parents in accessing community resources through the School Social Worker or community agencies.
  24. Develop partnerships with other social agencies.
  25. Serve as a partner or resource to the PTA or other parent organizations, as needed/requested.
  26. Establish and meet regularly with school council or committee, as needed/requested.
  27. Develop partnerships and collaborate with Federal, State, and local programs, community Pre-Ks, in-house Pre-K, and feeder schools to coordinate and conduct activities to assist families with transition.
  28. Perform all other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications:
  1. Minimum of a High School Diploma or state-approved High School Equivalency (HSE), required.
  2. Experience working with Title I programs, preferred.
  3. Extensive knowledge of federal programs, specifically Title I, preferred.
  4. Experience working with Microsoft Office and Google Suite, preferred.
  5. Exceptional integrity, commitment to confidentiality, excellent character, and strong professional reputation.
  6. Ability to abide by the Georgia Professional Standards Code of Ethics for Educators.
  7. Ability to be regularly, predictably, and reliably at work.
  8. Ability to be present at the physical worksite.
  9. Ability to perform tasks involving prolonged periods of standing, walking, and sitting.
  10. Ability to perform routine physical activities such as bending and lifting/pushing/pulling up to 50 pounds.
  11. Must be able to properly and consistently supervise students, particularly during emergency situations.
  12. Vision, hearing, written, and verbal communications are essential factors in performing required tasks.
