Job description

This position will operate on a remote, freelance basis.

About the Role

If you have a knack for catchy headlines, love picking out the coolest daily tech stories, and can hook a reader faster than a viral tweet, this is the gig for you!

XDA is looking for a Freelance Newsletter Writer to turn our daily computing, mobile, and hardware coverage into must-read email newsletters. If you know what makes tech enthusiasts click and want a quick, high-volume daily workflow, we want to hear from you.

In this role, you will use our internal CMS to select top published stories, arrange the newsletter layout, draft short custom intros, and set up daily sends—including pre-scheduling weekend issues in advance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Use our internal CMS article-picker tool to select top published XDA stories across PC hardware, Windows, and computing news.
  • Draft brief, compelling introductory paragraphs and subject lines designed to grab reader interest and drive high click-through rates.
  • Build and pre-schedule weekend newsletter sends ahead of time to maintain an uninterrupted 7-day publishing schedule.
  • Craft subject lines and preview text structured to increase open rates, clicks, and reader time-on-site.

Qualifications & Requirements:

  • Ability to work quickly in digital tools and maintain a consistent daily publishing workflow.
  • Talent for writing snappy intros, engaging email hooks, and click-worthy (non-clickbait) subject lines.
  • Strong pulse on XDA’s core coverage (Laptops, PC Hardware, Windows, Android, Peripherals) to choose the most compelling stories for our audience.
  • Ability to learn and navigate internal publishing systems and CMS tools.

How to Apply:

Please submit the following materials in your application:

  1. Your CV / Resume
  2. A brief Cover Letter detailing your experience with email newsletters, digital marketing, or short-form copywriting
  3. 2–3 writing samples demonstrating your copywriting style (short-form summaries, email copy, or catchy tech write-ups)

The hiring team at XDA will get back to you as soon as possible if we think you’d make a solid addition to the team. Only applications containing relevant writing samples will be considered.
