Job description

KOMO/KUNS has an immediate opening for a creative News Producer! In this role, you will be responsible for the day-to-day production of our newscasts. This position will also work closely with the Executive Producer, Director, Assignment Desk and Anchors on the newscast and its content. In this position you will determine the content and flow of newscasts, work with management and on-air staff to generate and write stories and develop content for our web site and for live, digital programming.

the ideal candidate will have:
  • Solid news judgment
  • Be a compelling and accurate writer
  • Be able to multitask and manage time in order to put together an exciting and informative newscast
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced and deadline driven environment
  • Strong leadership and communication skills
  • The ability to execute news strategies and goals in daily newscasts
  • Flexibility and on-the-spot problem solving abilities are a must
  • Proficient with non-linear editing (i.e. Avid) and newsroom systems, such as iNews
additional qualifications (digital emphasis)
  • Strong interest in digital and streaming news production, even if primary experience is in traditional TV
  • Understanding of how digital audiences consume news differently from broadcast viewers
  • Willingness to experiment with new formats, platforms, and audience engagement strategies
  • Ability to adapt broadcast content for streaming, social, and on-demand platforms
  • Comfortable using analytics and audience feedback to inform editorial decisions
  • Creative, forward-thinking mindset with a desire to help grow a daily digital program
experience:
  • At least 2 years producing a daily newscast
  • A 4-year Journalism degree is preferred

The hourly compensation range for this role is $29.27to $42.79. Final compensation for this role will be determined by various factors such as a candidate’s relevant work experience, skills, certifications, and geographic location. Full time positions are eligible for benefits that include participation in a retirement plan, quarterly and annual incentive plan bonuses, life and disability insurance, health, dental and vision plans,flexible spending accounts, 15 paid vacation days, 2 paid personal days, 9 paid holidays, 40 hours of paid sick leave, parental leave, and employee stock purchase plan.
