Senior Producer:
WINK News-Southwest Florida’s News Leader is seeking a highly organized and experienced Senior Producer to join our dynamic team for a high-profile newscast. As the Senior Producer, you will play a crucial role in creating engaging and informative news content for our viewers. You will be responsible for overseeing the producing process from start to finish, ensuring the smooth execution of one of our prominent newscasts. This is an overnight position requiring weekday and weekend night availability.
Responsibilities:
1. Content Planning: Collaborate with the news team to develop story ideas, determine content priorities, and create a compelling newscast. Stay up to date with current events and identify potential breaking news stories.
2. Editorial Direction: Work closely with key news managers to establish the editorial direction of the newscast. Maintain a high standard of journalistic integrity and ensure that news stories are accurate, balanced, and adhere to ethical guidelines.
3. Story Development: Assign stories to reporters and provide guidance on story angles. Help shape and refine news stories to ensure they are clear, concise, and engaging for the audience.
4. Production Coordination: Oversee the production process, including coordinating with camera operators, editors, graphics teams, and other staff members.
5. Script Writing and Editing: Write and edit scripts for anchors, ensuring they are well-written, accurate, and aligned with the news style and tone of the organization. Assist reporters and writers in crafting their stories for on-air presentation.
6. Time Management: Maintain a strict schedule to ensure the newscast runs smoothly. React quickly to breaking news and make necessary adjustments to the newscast.
7. Collaboration: Foster a positive and collaborative work environment by effectively communicating with all team members and promoting teamwork. Coordinate with other departments, such as graphics and promotions, to enhance the overall quality of the newscast.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in journalism, communication, or a related field (preferred)
- Proven experience as a newscast producer or in a similar role
- Strong editorial judgment and knowledge of journalistic ethics
- Excellent writing and editing skills, with the ability to craft compelling news stories
- Exceptional organizational and time management abilities
- Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required in a news environment
