Job description

News Production Director/Trainer
WINK News-Southwest Florida’s news leader has an immediate opening for a News Production Director/Trainer to work with our Production team. This position is responsible for coordinating the overall look and presentation of a fast-paced newscast.
Must Have:
  • Bachelor’s degree in journalism, communication or related field preferred.
  • Applicants must have prior experience working with ROSS switchers and XPressions graphics.
  • Must be able to effectively communicate with producers and production crew to facilitate all production elements.
  • Ability to work in a rapid, fast-paced environment.
  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule, including nights, weekends and holidays.
 
Training:
  • Train directors, and control room staff on Ross OverDrive operation, coding, and best practices
  • Develop and reinforce standard operating procedures for automation-driven newscasts
  • Guide new team members on timing, shot selection, and clean execution in a live control room environment

Troubleshooting & Support:
  • Identify and resolve real-time technical issues involving automation, switcher, graphics, and playback systems
  • Collaborate with engineering to diagnose recurring issues and improve system reliability
  • Serve as a go-to resource for control room troubleshooting and workflow optimization
 
Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to sit or work at a computer for extended periods.
  • Clear verbal and written communication in person, by phone, and via video.
  • Able to lift up to 15 pounds.
  • Visual and auditory ability to operate standard office, recording, and production equipment.
