What does a news department intern do?

A News Department Intern assists the newsroom staff with a variety of tasks, such as researching stories, conducting interviews, writing news articles, and helping with video or audio production. Interns often help manage social media accounts, gather background information, and fact-check stories before publication. The role is designed to give students or recent graduates hands-on experience in the fast-paced environment of a news organization, allowing them to develop essential journalism skills and build a professional portfolio.

What types of projects or tasks can a news department intern expect to work on during their internship?
