New Vision, Inc. is a Tennessee-based nonprofit organization (founded 2001) dedicated to strengthening families and supporting children's safety and well-being across the Mid-State region. We partner with the Tennessee Department of Children's Services (DCS) to provide Family Preservation and Reunification services that help families stay together safely and reduce the need for foster care placement.

Position Overview

We are hiring Family Supervised Visitation Specialists to deliver high-quality, strengths-based supervised visitation services to families involved with the Tennessee Department of Children's Services. This is meaningful, community-based work that directly impacts the safety and stability of children and families across the Mid-State region (Davidson, Wilson, Williamson, Rutherford, and surrounding counties).

You will facilitate supervised visits between children and their parents or caregivers, coach parents in safe and nurturing interactions, and connect families to resources that support long-term stability.

This position operates 24/7 on a flexible schedule to accommodate the unique needs of the families we serve.

Key Responsibilities

• Facilitate supervised visitation between children and their parents, caregivers, and/or siblings — ensuring a minimum of two face-to-face visits (at least 4 hours total) per month between children and parents, and at least one sibling visit per month
• Prepare children, parents, and siblings before each visit and provide real-time coaching and feedback during and after each session
• Teach, model, and coach parenting skills including self-regulation, stress reduction, conflict resolution, and protective factors
• Foster safe, stable, and nurturing relationships between parents and children
• Conduct strengths-based assessments (using FAST and CANS tools) and develop individualized service plans in partnership with families and DCS case managers
• Identify and connect families to formal and informal community-based resources
• Participate in Child and Family Team Meetings (CFTMs) with DCS case managers and families
• Enter detailed case recordings into the CCWIS system within 10 business days of each contact
• Provide monthly written updates to DCS case managers within 5 business days of month-end
• Respond to emergency referrals to prevent children's placement into state custody
• Prepare written court reports and testify in court proceedings when subpoenaed
• Track and maintain all required documentation in compliance with DCS policies and state standards

Qualifications

Minimum (Required):

• Bachelor's degree (B.A. or B.S.) in social work, psychology, counseling, sociology, or another social science AND at least 1 year of relevant professional experience working with families and children

Alternative Pathway:

• Bachelor's degree in any field AND at least 3 years of relevant professional experience working with families and children

All Candidates Must:

• Be able to work under the direct supervision of a master's-level staff member
• Successfully pass a DCS background check (Policy 4.1) prior to beginning services
• Have reliable transportation and a valid driver's license (this is a community-based, in-home/field position)
• Be available to provide services outside traditional business hours, including evenings and weekends
• Be comfortable working in a variety of community settings (family homes, community venues, court settings)

Preferred:

• Master's degree in social work, counseling, or a related human services field
• Prior experience with DCS, child welfare, family preservation, or foster care systems
• Familiarity with the FAST, CANS, and/or DCS CCWIS documentation systems
• Experience with trauma-informed, strengths-based practice models
• Bilingual candidates are encouraged to apply

What You'll Do Day-to-Day

• Contact DCS case managers within 24 hours of receiving new referrals to consult on family circumstances
• Make first contact with families by phone within 48 hours and in person within 5 calendar days of referral
• Complete strengths-based assessments and develop service plans within 15 calendar days
• Facilitate safe, productive visits in locations convenient to families — near their home and school, at hours that accommodate work and school schedules
• Document sessions thoroughly, including interventions used, family progress, and safety observations
• Attend court when subpoenaed and submit court reports at least one week before hearings

Compensation

• $25.00 per hour for direct service and court testimony

Note: Travel time and travel expenses are not separately reimbursed.
