Job description

ABOUT THE ROLE

This is a newly created position — built in direct response to growth in our metals market segment and a commitment to bringing dedicated technical expertise to the industry.

As Technical Sales Manager – Metals, you'll own the commercial and technical relationship with steel mills, aluminum mills, toll processors, and metal fabricators across North America. You'll become the subject matter expert on industrial knife products and their applications throughout the metals industry — while managing and supporting a network of third-party manufacturers' representatives.

You'll report to the National Sales Director and have real ownership over how we show up in this market.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

▸ Prospect and develop new accounts across steel mills, aluminum mills, toll processors, and metal fabricators

▸ Become the internal and external subject matter expert on industrial knife products — geometry, material selection, and application performance across slitting, shearing, cut-to-length, and edge trimming operations

▸ Travel approximately 50% of the time for field visits, plant-level consultations, and account development

▸ Manage and support a network of third-party manufacturers' representatives — training, coaching, and holding reps accountable to their accounts and targets

▸ Serve as the bridge between the field and our operations team, relaying customer requirements, application feedback, and market intelligence

▸ Track pipeline activity, account progress, and rep performance to identify opportunities across the territory

WHAT YOU BRING

✔ Experience in industrial or technical sales — ideally in metals, cutting tools, or capital equipment

✔ Comfort working at the plant level with operators, engineers, and procurement

✔ Strong organizational skills and self-direction in a remote, field-based environment

✔ Experience managing or coordinating with manufacturers' reps or channel partners

✔ Genuine curiosity about manufacturing processes and how cutting tools affect quality and efficiency

✔ Clean driving record and willingness to travel ~50% of the time

Bonus if you have:

→ Direct experience in steel service centers, aluminum mills, or metal processing

→ Background in tooling, metallurgy, or manufacturing engineering

→ Established relationships within the metals processing industry

→ Familiarity with industrial knife applications: slitting, shearing, cut-to-length, edge trimming

WHY US

Well-established American manufacturer with decades of production expertise

Actively growing metals market segment — you'll be building something, not maintaining a plateau

Newly created role with real ownership — define the approach, shape the territory, grow with the position

Real opportunity to become the industry's go-to technical expert in industrial knife applications

Collaborative team with strong manufacturing, engineering, and operations support behind you
