Sat/Sun 9a-3p

Sat/Sun 8:30a-5:30p


Job Summary:

Provides training to adults with developmental disabilities and assists persons in becoming as vocationally and personally independent as possible.  Secures employment opportunities for individuals with developmental disabilities.  Facilitates co-worker acceptance and integration into the work environment.  Provides direct contact services which include but are not limited to: vocational skills training using horticulture, employment training, socialization training, personal self-help skills and implementation of individualized objectives (which may include academic skills, behavioral strategies etc.).  

Job Assignment:

The position/term job coach is used to designate all direct contact employees working, teaching and training adults with developmental disabilities at A New Leaf, Inc.  Job Coaches are assigned to work locations based on the needs of A New Leaf, Inc. and the individuals served.  Work locations for Job Coaches range from facility greenhouse, mobile work crew, community enclave or a combination of all sites. 

Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Completes worker assessments and screening, completing all documentation necessary.  Evaluates progress and determines client job match in cooperation with the interdisciplinary team.
  • Insures trainees involved in the program learn appropriate work skills, attitudes and behaviors, following least intrusive training techniques.  Insures that trainees served are trained sufficiently to complete assigned work according to job description and customers standards.  Utilizes training techniques to insure production levels are met.
  • Completes all required documentation and duties including but not limited to program data, data collection, consumer timesheets, quality assurance compliance etc.
  • Develop and implement individualized training with a team approach to accomplish routine job requirements such as attendance, time sheets, task completion, supervisor-employee relationships, co-worker relationships and independence in the work assignment.
  • Develop marketing techniques to solicit potential employers and maintain successful community relationships.
  • Record all training data and provide ongoing support of job site and the individual.
  • Interacts with trainees served to promote self esteem, confidence and morale.  Participates actively to insure the happiness and well being of trainees.  Treats individuals with dignity and respect.  
  • Prepares analysis of work environment, requirements and specific job analysis.
  • Assists and/or trains individuals served, provides instruction and assistance to individuals in the performance of their work. 
  • Represents A New Leaf, Inc. and individuals in the program in a positive manner; acts as a positive role model for all individuals served. 
  • Performs duties as requested to meet the needs of A New Leaf, Inc.

Requirements

Job Requirements: 


  • Have and maintain a valid driver's license. 
  • Have dependable vehicle at all times. 
  • Have and maintain automobile insurance coverage at all times. 
  • Maintain eligibility to operate agency vehicles.
  • Physical capacities must include bending, stooping, and lifting a minimum of 40 pounds.
  • Ability to respond quickly to sounds, as well as to see and respond to dangerous situations.
  • Ability to stand and walk for long periods.
  • Ability to move safely over uneven terrain or in confined spaces.
  • Ability to be exposed to outside elements such as heat, cold and rain.
  • Work flexible schedule based on schedules of persons served by and needs of A New Leaf, Inc. including but not limited to working scheduled weekends to water and spray plants.
  • Follow policy and procedures of A New Leaf, Inc.

  • Ensures all individuals served are safe in their working environment and program participation at all times.
  • Ability to communicate verbally and in writing, complete requires documentation and reports required by A New Leaf, Inc. and funding sources.

  • Employment Specialist certification within six months of employment.
