Job description

About Charta Health

In an industry where the focus should rightly be on delivering quality care to patients, healthcare providers remain burdened by the complexities of non-clinical operations. Charta is changing that.

We're building the operating system for modern healthcare organizations. Our AI platform streamlines critical workflows across revenue cycle, clinical operations, and administrative functions, helping providers and payers operate more efficiently and deliver better patient care. Backed by Bain Capital Ventures, Charta is on a mission to make every healthcare dollar accountable and every chart accurate, reimagining healthcare infrastructure from the ground up.

ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY

At Charta, we prioritize results compared to methods used to achieve those results. As an early career Software Engineer, you’re responsible for the software you ship. The role demands working through unfamiliar systems without waiting to be directed, turning loosely specified problems into working code, and holding your output to the same standard as every other engineer on the team. You’ll write production code in your first weeks, own features end to end, and take on larger and less defined problems as fast as you can carry them.

JOINING OUR MULTIDISCIPLINARY TEAM, YOUR TASKS WOULD INCLUDE
  • Delivering features and fixes end to end, from problem statement through code, tests, and deployment,

  • Working through unfamiliar systems and codebases to locate the cause of a problem,

  • Investigating issues in running production systems and driving them to resolution,

  • Delivering quality code and thorough documentation, and ensuring smooth deployment,

  • Taking on progressively larger and less defined problems.

YOU’D BE A GREAT FIT, IF YOU HAVE
  • Bachelor’s and/or Master’s degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent practical experience.

  • Fluency in one or more programming languages such as Python, TypeScript, Node.js or Java. React and/or Next.js experience is a plus.

  • Software you have built and shipped, through internships, open source, or personal projects, and the ability to explain the decisions behind it.

  • The ability to decompose an ambiguous problem and make progress independently.

  • Clear written communication. Much of the engineering here happens in pull requests and design documents.

  • Interest or experience in developing or leveraging modern generative AI technologies, including large language models.

WHAT WE OFFER
  • Comprehensive benefits package, including health, dental, and vision.

  • Growth opportunities in an early stage startup.

  • Direct mentorship from senior engineers, plus ongoing professional development and access to cutting edge AI and healthcare tools.

  • Lively, in-person work culture at our SF Headquarters or NYC office.

  • Equity options

  • Annual performance based bonus up to 30%

  • $90,000 - $140,000 USD depending on experience

Our Commitment to Diversity

We are an equal opportunity employer and value diversity at our company. We do not discriminate on the basis of race, religion, color, national origin, gender, sexual orientation, age, marital status, veteran status, or disability status.
