Job description

Salary:

What were doing

Were building the AI powered coaching platform that transforms how gamers learn, compete, and win. Backed by a16z, were already live in 5 titles with 100K+ users and rapidly expanding into new games and beyond our own app to power coaching for major partners in fitness, wearables, AR/VR, and even aviation.

The design team plays a significant role at trophi.ai. We don't just build our own interface, we design "plug and play" coaching experiences that live inside our partners' ecosystems.

As a Product Designer, you will work hands-on to turn ambiguity into clear, intuitive experiences. You will partner closely with product and engineering teams to ship features quickly. Instead of managing others, your focus will be on craft: execute high-quality flows that might live in a mobile app, a post-session report, or an overlay in a simulator and designs that help users master complex skills, from landing a plane to perfecting a golf swing.

Things youll do

  • Execute end-to-end design and take projects from requirements and rough sketches to polished prototypes, embeddable UI components and SDKs.
  • Create cohesive UX flows that drive core business outcomes, specifically focusing on activation, onboarding, and first-session clarity.
  • Collaborate on research and
support product and data science teams in running usability tests, interpreting funnels, and using those insights to iterate on your designs.
  • Take the winning patterns weve built for games and adapt them for new verticals.
  • Utilize and expand our existing design system to ensure speed and consistency across all surfaces.
  • Work side-by-side with engineers to ensure your designs are implemented to a high standard.
  • Proactively find opportunities to smooth out friction points in the user journey.
  • Use our products inside real games (starting with sim racing and Rocket League) to validate how your UI feels in a live gaming environment.
  • Immerse yourself in the problem space to truly understand what the gamer needs.

Skills youll bring

  • 3+ years of experience designing software products (B2C, B2B2C a plus)
  • Proficiency in Figma and prototyping tools, including implementing AI in your workflow
  • Interest in how data informs design. You are eager to learn how to balance qualitative research with quantitative insights.
  • Understanding how to use components and styles to work efficiently, even if you aren't building the system from scratch.
  • You are comfortable with ambiguity and fast changes. You are resourceful (perhaps leveraging AI in your own workflows) and dont need a perfectly clear path to get started.
  • You can explain your design rationale clearly to engineers and product managers.
  • A genuine interest in gaming, AI, or coaching.

You WILL NOT enjoy this role if

  • You dont like to make judgment calls and iterate as you go.
  • You prefer slow, methodical processes. We ship fast. If you struggle when requirements change mid-sprint, this will be stressful.
  • You need a large team to hide behind. This is a high-ownership IC role. Even as a junior/mid-level designer, you are responsible for your output.
  • You need step-by-step instructions. We will support you, but we expect you to propose solutions rather than waiting to be told exactly what to draw.
