About the Position

Reporting to the Director of Care, the Personal Support Worker (PSW) is an integral member of the Nursing team. The PSW is responsible for providing exceptional resident-centred care by assisting with activities of daily living, promoting resident independence, and supporting the physical, emotional, social, and spiritual well-being of our residents.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Providing personal care, including bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, mobility, and transfers.
  • Assisting residents with meals, hydration, and nutritional support.
  • Administering medications in accordance with organizational policies and applicable legislation (training provided).
  • Assisting in the nursing process by observing, documenting, and reporting changes in residents' physical, emotional, and cognitive conditions.
  • Supporting residents in recreational and social activities that promote quality of life.
  • Maintaining accurate documentation and communicating effectively with the interdisciplinary team.
  • Following infection prevention and control practices, resident safety procedures, and organizational policies.
  • Promoting resident dignity, privacy, choice, and the Residents' Bill of Rights.
  • Contributing to a positive, collaborative, and respectful team environment.

Qualifications
  • Personal Support Worker Certificate from an accredited Ontario Community College or Registered Private Career College.
  • Current CPR/First Aid certification is considered an asset.
  • Previous experience working with seniors in retirement or long-term care is considered an asset.
Experience
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience providing person-centred care in accordance with the Retirement Homes Act and organizational policies and procedures.
  • Medication administration experience is preferred; however, training will be provided as medication administration is a requirement of the position.
  • Demonstrated commitment to continuous learning and professional development.
  • Knowledge of and commitment to upholding the Residents' Bill of Rights.

  • Demonstrated commitment to exceptional customer service and compassionate care for seniors.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
