We are actively seeking full-time or part-time RNs to join our team!

Pay Information:

  • Position Pay Scale: $31.75 - 35.50 per hour (depending on experience)

General Job Duties:

Our RNs check vitals, administer meds, assist with patient care, and monitor the overall well-being of each resident. Enriching the lives of others while they themselves are being enriched.

Requisite Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs):

  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
  • Current license in the state of Illinois
  • Current CPR registration
  • Knowledge of the geriatric population in life community settings
  • Working knowledge of policy and procedure book
  • Recent clinical experience
  • Experience with EHR or willingness/ability to learn

JOB DESCRIPTION


Primary Function: Performs complete, comprehensive resident nursing care by following each care plan with kindness, respect and conformance with recognized nursing techniques, procedures, and established standards based on the scope of nursing practice in a professional manner

Essential Functions:

  • Utilizes nursing knowledge and skills in the safe implementation of basic preventative, therapeutic, and rehabilitative nursing care of assigned residents
  • Performs delegated independent nursing functions using established procedures, policies, guidelines, and standards. This includes but is not limited to: data collection, development of care plans, carrying out physician orders accurately, evaluating the effectiveness of the nursing care being administered, documenting pertinent observation and intervention on the appropriate record and performing selected tasks related to resident care and the residents’ environment in a safe manner
  • Dispenses and oversees treatments, medications, and diets as ordered
  • Maintains the resident record comprehensively including resident condition, medication, treatments and resident response
  • Supervises and assigns duties on a timely basis to nursing assistants and communicates their performance on a regular basis to the charge nurse. Provides input to performance evaluations and recommends discipline
  • Contributes to the care planning process by providing the charge nurse or other care planning staff with specific information and observations of the residents’ needs and preferences
  • Provides individualized attention, which encourages each resident’s ability to maintain or attain the highest practical physical, mental, and psychosocial well-being
  • Completes assessments and immediately reports all significant events involving the residents’ medical condition or behavior to nursing administration on duty
  • Performs all job responsibilities in accordance with prescribed safety and infection control procedures including, but not limited to, thorough hand washing, use of disposable gloves where indicated, use of gel products per CDC recommendations and proper disposal of soiled materials
  • Follows up with supervisor, coworker or resident regarding reported complaints, problems, and concerns
  • Participates in creating an atmosphere which allows for the privacy, dignity, cleanliness, safety and well-being of each resident
  • Safeguards privacy and confidentiality of all resident health care information which includes complying with all HIPAA regulations
  • Acts as a customer service representative and public relations ambassador for Fairhaven with residents, families, vendors, volunteers and other visitors
  • Interacts positively with all residents at all times creating an atmosphere which promotes a homelike environment
  • Reports incidents of abuse, neglect or a violation of the resident’s rights immediately
  • Protects personal belongings of each resident, reports missing items and assists in attempting to locate them
  • Maintains, cares for and safely uses supplies and equipment effectively and efficiently per Fairhaven policies and procedures
  • Completes all in-service training requirements in a timely manner
  • Completes all assigned duties and tasks

Essential Qualifications & Requirements:

Type of work and characteristics of duties require:

  • Physical condition allowing for normal RN duties including but not limited to; lifting (up to 50 lbs.), bending, stooping, kneeling, sitting, reaching, grabbing, pushing, pulling, standing or walking an entire shift, use of arms and hands with dexterity, ability to read labels, regulations, technical procedures, professional journals, nursing orders and care plans
  • Ability to manage stress and maintain a high energy level
  • Computer knowledge necessary to perform work duties
  • Ability to supervise with energy, courtesy, authority, respect and fairness
  • Ability to communicate in a friendly manner to residents and coworkers in English
  • Ability to perform a variety of activities and to adapt to a quickly changing environment as it relates to caring for residents and Fairhaven property
  • Ability to show warmth, love and compassion and to make residents feel comfortable
  • Comfort in working in a Christian Retirement Center environment
  • Adherence to attendance policy, understanding residents’ need for 24/7 care
  • Ability to use tactful, appropriate, communications, in sensitive and emotional situations
  • Adherence to all regulations specified in the Fairhaven employee handbook, procedures and policy documents
  • Adherence to PRN requirements, work a minium of 4 ( 8- hours) shifts per month, 2 of which must be weekend shifts (Saturday or Sunday) and work 2 holidays per year.*** minimum shift requirements are based on the facility's needs and are subject to change.


Other Duties:

  • Participates as a key member of health care teams assisting in timely problem solving
  • Identifies improvements to processes and recommend changes to management
  • Identifies safety hazards and emergency situations and initiates corrective action or report
  • Assists the immediate supervisor with various administrative tasks to support department operations as directed
  • Performs tasks which are supportive in nature to the essential functions of the job but which may be altered or redesigned depending upon individual circumstances
  • Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor

Experience & Education or skills required:

  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
