Clinical Intern, Social Work (UNPAID)

Description

Under clinical supervision of a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, the Clinical Intern conducts mental health assessments, provides direct mental health services to members, and participates in consultations with clinical personnel in support of the mental health needs of members in the clinical reentry setting.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provides individual and group counseling services to members to emphasize improved clinical needs for a successful reentry.
  • Conducts comprehensive mental health assessments.
  • Consults with member support services personnel in support of the mental health needs of members.
  • Maintains strict confidentiality while providing direct therapy services to members.
  • Completes weekly supervision with Clinical Supervisor per internship agreements.
  • Maintains appropriate data on members to document services received.
  • Completes informal assessments as appropriate, to determine the extent of progress and effectiveness of current services.
  • Adheres to the ethical standards and codes of the profession and to the established rules, regulations, and laws governing behavioral health programs.
  • Participates in activities that promote professional development and use clinical/educational research to enhance therapy services.
  • Supports and implements the New Freedom's policies, regulations, procedures, and administrative directives.
  • Submits records, reports, and assignments promptly and efficiently.
  • Demonstrates ability to adjust to and use new approaches in the performance of his/her duties.
  • Maintains a data collection system that is organized and updated weekly or as appropriate.
  • In addition, all other duties as assigned

Knowledge of treatment modalities for substance abuse, mental health, and other co-occurring disorders. Experience in working with substance abuse in a residential and/or intensive outpatient milieu Experience in crisis intervention and conflict resolution skills. Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to maintain a positive collaborative relationship among staff Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Excellent interpersonal and problem-solving skills. Working knowledge of HIPAA PII security requirements Versatility, flexibility, and willingness to work within constantly changing priorities with enthusiasm Excellent communication, organizational, time management, and critical thinking and problem-solving skills required Effectively demonstrates versatility, flexibility, and a willingness to work within constantly changing priorities with enthusiasm. Effectively collaborates and works within a team, while also effectively demonstrating the ability to take initiative and work well individually Current Certification CPR/BLS/CPI.
