This role ensures accurate documentation, smooth material and information flow, and timely order processing while upholding high standards of safety and quality. The position is ideal for someone who enjoys working cross-functionally, is highly organized, and thrives in a collaborative, supportive, and fast-moving setting.

Responsibilities

  • Provide clerical support for planning and scheduling production orders within the MIE Trak MRP system.
  • Create and maintain Sales Orders, Work Orders, Pick Lists, Packing Lists, Invoices, Purchase Orders, and Routers.
  • Update work orders and material requirements in response to customer change orders and evolving production needs.
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings and models for material callouts and dimensions, and accurately add this information to quote templates.
  • Audit drawings and identify engineering redlines that require correction, communicating issues to the appropriate teams.
  • Use PDM, SolidWorks, E-Drawings, and Step files to obtain dimensions and details for specific parts.
  • Upload and organize drawings and models in the PDM system when purchase orders are received.
  • Gather pertinent shipment information such as weight, dimensions, and truck size requirements for shipments to fabrication shops.
  • Submit requests for shipment trucks to logistics and coordinate pickup times, truck size, truck type, and delivery schedules.
  • Handle all FedEx shipments, both external and internal, ensuring accurate documentation and timely dispatch.
  • Assist in coordinating activities among Supply Chain, Manufacturing, Sales, and Engineering departments to support efficient production flow.
  • Support inventory planning efforts and contribute to reducing inventory waste through accurate documentation and routing.
  • Audit incoming material for proper routing, consumption, and alignment with production requirements.
  • Generate and review MRP reports for production to support planning and decision-making.
  • Maintain the 7S organizational method within the department to promote efficiency and cleanliness.
  • Follow all company, OSHA, and applicable state and federal safety regulations at all times.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned to support production planning and overall operations.
Essential Skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and teamwork skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across multiple departments.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities to address planning, scheduling, and logistics challenges.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills for clear documentation and cross-functional coordination.
  • Advanced blueprint reading and understanding skills to interpret engineering drawings and models accurately.

  • Flexibility and adaptability to adjust to changing customer requirements and a dynamic production environment.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, high-volume manufacturing setting.
  • Basic math skills, including the ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide accurately.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to maintain an orderly working environment.
  • Ability to speak, read, write, and comprehend English for documentation and communication purposes.
  • Comfort with learning and adapting to new tasks and duties as operations evolve.
  • Ability to work 40–50+ hour work weeks based on customer and production needs.
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • At least 2 years of planning experience in a fast-paced, high-volume manufacturing environment.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite products for documentation, reporting, and communication.
  • Ability to meet deadlines within specified time constraints.
  • General understanding of Bill of Materials (BOM) structures and the ability to read BOMs, particularly those from engineering.
  • Experience working with production work orders in a manufacturing environment.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Experience or knowledge of quoting processes and shipping logistics.
  • Manufacturing experience, with a strong preference for metal manufacturing; experience in plastics, aerospace, or contract manufacturing is also valuable.
  • History with work order releasing and/or purchasing activities.
  • General MRP/ERP system experience, even if not specifically with the MIE Trak or M1 systems.
  • Experience with PDM systems and tools such as SolidWorks and eDrawings, particularly as they relate to understanding BOM structures.
  • Ability to coordinate activities between office-based planning tasks and on-the-floor operational support.
  • Strong attention to detail when auditing drawings, materials, and routing information.
Work Environment

This role operates in a manufacturing environment that combines office-based planning duties with frequent time on the production floor to support operations. The physical setting is a warehouse-type space with intermittent noise and exposure to dust, and temperatures that can vary between hot and cold climates. The position involves long periods of standing and regular movement, including bending, twisting, and kneeling. The role requires the ability to lift up to 50 pounds, normal vision and hearing (with or without corrective aids), and good hand-eye coordination. Steel-toed shoes are required as part of the standard dress code on the production floor. The culture emphasizes a strong team environment, safety, and quality, with room to grow for individuals who are committed and eager to develop within an ever-changing, demanding, and fast-paced setting.
