Job description


We are seeking an experienced ICU RN for the Neuroscience ICU at Inova Fairfax Hospital.
Shift: 3 X 12- hour shifts -Day/Night Rotation. (7am-7pm and 7pm-7am).
Sign-on Bonus & Relocation Bonus available.
The Neuroscience ICU (NSICU) at Inova Fairfax Medical Campus - an academic Magnet-designated facility, is nationally recognized and holds the AACN's Bronze Beacon Award. We are Northern Virginia's only dedicated NSICU and a JCAHO-certified Comprehensive Stroke Center (CSC) for the MidAtlantic Region. We are Level 4 Epilepsy certified by the NAEC and actively engaged in clinical research, including advanced Interventional Radiology treatments.
This fast-paced, team-driven environment focuses on high-quality care and professional development. Our nursing staff works closely with Neuro and Medical Intensivists, Interventionalists, Neurosurgeons and fellows, and APPs.
Unit Details:
An 18-bed adult unit treating complex neurological patients including (but not limited to):
• Ischemic & Hemorrhagic Strokes
• Intracranial Hemorrhages
• Seizures & Status Epilepticus
• Cerebral Edema & Secondary Brain Injury
• Brain Tumors
• Neuromuscular Disorders
• Post-interventional & neuro-surgical patients
Average LOS: 4.3 days | RN/Patient Ratio: 1:2

Minimum qualifications:
  • Experience: Minimum 1 year of experience as an ICU RN.
  • Education: BSN from an accredited school of nursing.
    If RN has an Associate's Degree (ADN); must complete BSN within 5 years of start date.
  • Certifications: BLS for Healthcare Provider Certification required and ACLS strongly preferred (must obtain within first 3 months)
  • Licensure: RN licensed, or eligible to practice in the Commonwealth of Virginia as a RN

Preferred qualifications:
  • 2+ years ICU RN experience
  • Unit involvement
  • Advanced Nursing Certification (SCRN, CCRN, CNRN) or a desire to become certified.
