An RN in a Neuro Stepdown Unit is a licensed registered nurse who provides care for patients with neurological conditions requiring close monitoring but not intensive care. They care for patients recovering from strokes, brain injuries, neurosurgery, and other neurological disorders. Responsibilities include monitoring neurological status, managing medications, assessing vital signs, and identifying changes in patient condition. Neuro Stepdown RNs work closely with neurologists, neurosurgeons, and interdisciplinary teams to support recovery and prevent complications. In a high-acuity, fast-paced environment, they play a critical role in bridging care between the ICU and general medical units.
