Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced Neuro ICU RN for a night shift assignment at a Certified Stroke Center requiring ACLS and NIHSS certification.

Details
  • Neuro ICU at a Certified Stroke Center
  • Night shift, 3x12-hour shifts (6:45 PM-6:45 AM)
  • Patient ratio of 2:1
  • Every other weekend required
  • Float required to other ICUs
  • Block scheduling may be considered
  • Involves EVD management, ventilator management, and stroke management
Requirements
  • Active RN license (OK State or Compact) required at time of consideration
  • BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required in hand
  • 1-2 years of Neuro ICU experience required
  • Previous charge nurse experience preferred
  • Trauma Level II experience preferred
  • Epic charting experience preferred
  • Skilled in arterial line management, central line care, PICC line management, and blood product administration
  • Skilled in ventilator management, ABG interpretation, and BiPAP/CPAP management
  • Skilled in titration of cardiac and vasoactive drips, and continuous IV sedation
  • Experience with CVA/acute stroke management, ICP monitoring, and post-craniotomy care
  • Experience managing patients with traumatic brain injury and spinal cord injury
  • CRRT/CVVHD experience preferred
Additional Information
  • Coordinate nursing care based on established clinical practice standards
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to achieve optimal patient outcomes
  • Develop and implement individualized care plans based on patient assessment
  • Delegate tasks to unlicensed personnel in compliance with Board of Nursing regulations
  • Conduct discharge planning and patient/family education
  • First-time travelers considered for this role
  • Must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible for travel rate
  • Former staff must have separated from permanent employment at least one year prior to applying as a traveler
  • No travel pairs or groups accepted
  • Up to 3 days of RTO will be auto-approved; no RTO permitted during the first week of orientation
