Job description

Network Administrator, Washington DC Area

SysArc is a fast-growing IT Managed Service Provider based in the DC area looking for an experienced Network Administrator/Engineer to join our team. We are one of the few MSP’s in the market with a mature cybersecurity practice that has been fully operational for several years. We have developed vertical market expertise within the Aerospace & Defense industry and are one of the leaders in DFARS/NIST 800-171/CMMC compliance solutions and are expecting this market to substantially accelerate over the next several years.

The ideal candidate has 3–5 years of experience supporting and managing production network and server environments within an MSP or multi-client setting. This individual is proactive, organized, and committed to identifying and resolving systemic risks before they impact client operations. We are seeking someone who thrives on structured processes, values documentation, and is enthusiastic about driving long-term stability, security, and scalability across client environments.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Perform proactive technology alignment reviews using MyITprocess
  • Identify risks, deficiencies, technical debt, and systemic issues before they impact client operations
  • Develop and execute remediation plans to improve stability, performance, and security
  • Serve as a technical escalation resource for complex network and system issues
  • Configure, monitor, and maintain network devices including switches, routers, firewalls, VPNs, and wireless access points
  • Troubleshoot LAN/WAN connectivity and performance issues
  • Manage VLANs, routing, firewall rules, intrusion prevention, and network security policies
  • Monitor system health, resource utilization, availability, throughput, and latency
  • Administer and support Windows Server environments including Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS/DHCP, and file/print services
  • Manage hybrid identity environments including AD synchronization and Entra ID integration
  • Support and maintain virtualized environments (VMware and/or Hyper-V)
  • Configure and maintain Windows endpoint operating environments
  • Administer Microsoft 365 tenants including Exchange Online, SharePoint, and Teams
  • Manage Microsoft Azure infrastructure and hybrid cloud environments
  • Implement and maintain Conditional Access, MFA, and identity security controls
  • Manage user accounts, permissions, and authentication across client systems
  • Perform patch management, system updates, vulnerability remediation, and endpoint security configuration
  • Administer and monitor backup and disaster recovery platforms
  • Perform backup testing and recovery validation to ensure business continuity readiness
  • Maintain integrity of network infrastructure, server deployments, backup systems, and security controls
  • Document all findings, changes, recommendations, and resolutions according to MSP standards
  • Maintain accurate network diagrams and technical documentation
  • Collaborate with vCIOs and project teams to align technical recommendations with business objectives
  • Contribute to standards development and long-term infrastructure improvements
  • Provide onsite support and client-facing technical guidance when required
  • Participate in the after-hours On-Call schedule, including 1 weekend every 8 weeks

Qualifications:

  • 3–5 years of hands-on experience supporting and managing production network and server environments
  • Experience working in an MSP or multi-client environment
  • Demonstrated experience administering Windows Server and Active Directory environments
  • Demonstrated experience configuring and supporting business-class network infrastructure (switches, firewalls, wireless)
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft 365 and hybrid identity environments
  • Experience supporting virtualization platforms (VMware and/or Hyper-V)
  • Experience with backup and disaster recovery solutions
  • Strong troubleshooting methodology and ability to resolve complex infrastructure issues independently
  • Ability to assess technical risk and prioritize remediation based on business impact
  • Experience working within defined standards, processes, and documentation frameworks
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
  • Highly organized with strong documentation discipline
  • Understanding of networking fundamentals (IP addressing, subnetting, VLANs, TCP/IP, VPN)
  • Understanding of security best practices including access control, patching, and firewall policy management

Applicant Should Have at Least One of the Certifications:

  • Network+
  • Security+
  • Microsoft Associate-level certification
