The F-35 Lightning II Program is the DoW's focal point for defining affordable next generation strike aircraft weapon systems for the Navy, Air Force, Marines, and our allies. The F-35 will bring cutting-edge technologies to the battlespace of the future. The JSFs advanced airframe, autonomic logistics, avionics, propulsion systems, stealth, and firepower will ensure that the F-35 is the most affordable, lethal, supportable and survivable aircraft ever to be used by so many warfighters across the globe.

MEANINGFUL WORK AND PERSONAL IMPACT

As a Network Engineer, the work you'll do at GDIT will be impactful to the mission of the JSF F-35 support team at Edwards AFB or China Lake CA :

  • Analyzes customer requirements and provides technical solutions to a wide range of difficult problems.

  • Performs maintenance and upgrade of networks including servers, routers, switches, firewalls, and networks.

  • Assist with networks solutions, including hardware, software, and cloud solutions.

  • Awareness of various network technologies, including routing, switching, Azure cloud technologies.

  • Ability to monitor network performance, identify bottlenecks, and implement solutions to optimize performance.

  • Ability to review network logs, backup network configurations, and recover network devices.

  • Knowledge utilizing Cisco ISE, Cisco Unified Call Manager, and SolarWinds.

  • Ensure compliance with network directives, policies, and STIGs.

  • Ability to apply network patches, updates, and DoW STIGs to firewalls, routers, switches, and VPNs.

  • Works with project managers to complete rapidly deployed network-related projects.

  • Strong communication skills for technical and nontechnical inter-team collaboration.

  • Stays current with new network technologies and utilizes industry best practices.

  • May coach and provide guidance to less-experienced networking professionals.

  • Occasional travel may be required in response to network outages.

WHAT YOU'LL NEED TO SUCCEED:

Bring your networking expertise along with a drive for innovation to GDIT. Our Network Engineer must have:

  • Security Clearance Level: Active Secret clearance

  • Required Experience: 5 years of experience in an enterprise LAN/MAN/WAN environment.

  • 5 years of concurrent experience in network administration and analysis.

  • Experience working with appropriate complex network administration and maintenance.

  • Experience working with complex system implementations and organizational processes to include maintaining network system documentation.

  • Experience maintaining the integrity and security of networks and connected systems.

  • Experience evaluating vendor products and making recommendations to purchase hardware, software, and coordinating installation.

  • Experience in developing and monitoring policies and standards related to the use of computing resources.

  • Experience in developing and implementing testing strategies and documenting results.

  • Required Certifications: 8140 Work Role: (441) Network Operations Specialist - Intermediate and Industry certification: Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) or Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP).

  • Education: BS/BA degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, or related IT discipline.

  • Allowable Substitution: 6 years of additional work experience without a degree or 2 years of additional experience with an AS/AA Degree.

  • Travel: Occasional travel may be required in response to network outages

  • Location: Onsite in either Edwards AFB or China Lake, CA

  • US Citizenship required

The likely salary range for this position is $93,500 - $126,500. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
