Job description

Berkshire Hathaway Homestate Companies, Workers Compensation Division, we are seeking a highly skilled Networking/DevOps Engineer 2 to join our Infrastructure team. This role serves as a critical link between traditional on-premises networking and modern cloud-native architecture. The ideal candidate is a NetDevOps advocate who prioritizes "Infrastructure as Code" (IaC) and is passionate about transitioning legacy processes into scalable, automated Azure environments

Must be legally authorized to work in the United States, without requiring, now or in the future, sponsorship for employment visa status.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Azure Network Architecture: Lead the design and management of sophisticated Azure network topologies, including VNETs, Azure Virtual WAN, and Virtual Hubs (vHubs).
  • Infrastructure as Code (IaC): Develop, version, and maintain Terraform modules to provision corporate network resources, ensuring rigorous consistency across development, staging, and production environments.
  • Automation & CI/CD: Architect and implement CI/CD pipelines specifically for network infrastructure to minimize manual intervention, reduce configuration drift, and accelerate deployment cycles.
  • Configuration Management: Utilize modern tooling to manage the state of network appliances, ensuring all configurations align with corporate security policies and compliance standards.  
  • Operations & Optimization: Provide Tier 3 technical escalation support for complex connectivity issues and lead proactive capacity planning for cloud and hybrid traffic flows.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • EDUCATION: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or related field strongly preferred. A combination of equivalent technical certifications and experience may be considered in lieu of degree. 
  • CERTIFICATIONS: One or more preferred (or similar, equivalent certification): AWS Certified DevOps Engineer, Microsoft Azure Developer Associate, Microsoft DevOps Engineer Expert, Puppet Certified Professional, Docker Certified Associate, Certified Kubernetes Administrator
REQUIRED TECHNICAL SKILLS
  • Minimum of seven (7) years of a mix of Development and DevOps experience with Cloud Service Providers (Azure preferred), Continual Integration/Continual delivery (CI/CD), logging and monitoring tools.
  • Cloud Networking: Deep technical proficiency in Microsoft Azurenetwork services, including Load Balancers, Application Gateways, Private Endpoints, and Network Security Groups (NSGs).
  • Automation Tooling: Proven experience developing reusable Terraform modules and managing remote state files in a collaborative team environment.
  • Core Networking: Comprehensive understanding of fundamental networking protocols within a hybrid-cloud context.
DESIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
  • Network Security: Experience deploying and managing Palo Alto VM-Series firewalls in Azure and physical appliances via Panorama.
  • SD-WAN: Proficiency in designing and supporting Palo Alto PrismaSD-WAN solutions.
  • Unified Communications: Experience managing and maintaining Microsoft Teams Telephony infrastructure.
  • Scripting: Competency in PowerShell for task automation and API integrations.
  • Monitoring: Hands-on experience with SolarWinds for performance metrics and network health monitoring.
  • Security Frameworks: Foundational understanding of Zero Trust architecture and micro-segmentation strategies.
  • Wireless Infrastructure: Proficiency with Cisco Meraki Wi-Fi solutions, including cloud-based dashboard management, access point deployment, and RF optimization.
  • Network Access & Security: Strong knowledge of 802.1X authentication and Network Access Control (NAC) solutions using Cisco ISE to secure wired and wireless endpoints.
