Overview

Private Branch Exchange (PBX) Technician (PSTS-2026-25648):

 

Bowhead seeks a Private Branch Exchange (PBX) Technician to provide Base Telecom Support at the Everett, WA. The Private Branch Exchange (PBX) Technician effort will provide telecommunications operations and maintenance (O&M). This position will require both in office and infield experience and duties. 

ON job and verification training is offered for all full time Bowhead employees after 30 days of employment. 

Responsibilities

Job duties include but are not limited to: 

  • Operate and maintain government-owned telephony switches (PBX), including:
    • Avaya Systems CM4.0
  • Perform:
    • Troubleshooting and repair of switch issues
    • Software updates and patching
    • Installation and configuration of switch hardware
    • Daily operation monitoring
    • Support for voicemail systems and IPE (Remote Intelligent Peripheral Equipment)
  • Utilize company vehicle to travel to remote locations weekly.
  • Ensure switch systems remain fully operational and compliant with DoD/Navy standards.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Education
      • Associate's degree or higher in IT or Cybersecurity (preferred)
      • High school diploma or equivalent required.
    • Years of experience
      • 2 years of relevant experience required.
      • 5 years relevant experience is preferred.
      • Prior experience within DoD networks highly preferred.
    • Required skills or certifications
      • IAT Level II (per DoD 8570.01-M)
        • COMPTIA Security+
          • Certification reimbursement will be offered after 30 days of employment
    • Preferred skills or certifications:  
      • Avaya Certified Support Specialist (ACSS) or equivalent
      • Nortel Meridian System Administration or equivalent
      • Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA)
      • Red Hat Certified System Administrator (RHCSA)
      • Microsoft Certified Solutions Associate (MCSA) or equivalent
    • Key System experience sought:
      • Mitel
      • Panasonic
      • NEC
    • Intermediate to advanced level skills in Microsoft Office software suite - Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint
    • Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of employees and outside contacts

Targeted pay range is $36.44/hr- 45.00/hr based on interview and experience. 

Physical Demands:

  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds
  • Must be able to stand and walk for prolonged amounts of time
  • Must be able to twist, bend and squat periodically

 SECURITY CLEARANCE REQUIREMENTS: Must be able to obtain and maintain a security clearance at the Secret level.  US Citizenship is a requirement for Secret clearance at this location.
