Job description

Koniag IT Systems, LLC a Koniag Government Services company, is seeking a Network Engineer T4 to support KITS and our government customer Washington, DC. This position requires the candidate to be able to obtain a Public Trust.

The Network Engineer T4 provides advanced network engineering support within CLIENT's enterprise IT environment. Working under the direction of the Network Engineer T4 (Lead) and Senior Network Engineer T4, this individual handles complex network engineering tasks, contributes to the design, integration, and operations of CLIENT's enterprise network infrastructure, and serves as a skilled technical resource within the network engineering team. This role requires strong technical expertise across enterprise networking platforms, the ability to work independently on moderately complex problems, and the capacity to support escalation and coverage continuity within the network team.
Key Responsibilities:
Network Engineering & Operations:
  • Provide Tier 4 network engineering support across CLIENT's enterprise environment, including LAN/WAN, routing, switching, wireless, SD-WAN, and network security fabric
  • Diagnose and resolve complex network incidents and problems, escalating to the Senior Network Engineer T4 or Network Engineer T4 (Lead) as appropriate
  • Execute enterprise network changes and integrations in accordance with ITIL 4 change management practices
  • Support the Senior Network Engineer T4 and Network Engineer T4 (Lead) in planning and executing network projects and integrations
  • Contribute to 24x7 NOC operations through on-call availability and documented escalation procedures
  • Assist in maintaining network stability, performance, and security across CLIENT's geographically distributed enterprise environment

Cloud & Hybrid Network Support:
  • Support integration and operations of on-premises and cloud network infrastructure across AWS commercial, AWS GovCloud, Microsoft Azure Government, and Microsoft 365 environments
  • Assist in SD-WAN operations and optimization across CLIENT's geographically distributed enterprise
  • Collaborate with infrastructure, platform, and cloud teams to ensure reliable connectivity and performance
  • Support network troubleshooting and resolution for cloud-connected services and hybrid environments

Documentation & Knowledge Management:
  • Maintain and update network documentation, diagrams, and configurations in the ITSM platform and knowledge base
  • Follow and contribute to standard operating procedures for network tasks and escalation paths
  • Support cross-training efforts to ensure coverage continuity and team depth
  • Contribute to after-action reviews and Sprint Retrospectives with actionable improvement recommendations

Required Qualifications:
Experience:
  • Minimum 4-6 years of hands-on enterprise network engineering experience
  • Demonstrated experience in a Federal or private-sector enterprise environment of comparable scale and complexity
  • Proven ability to independently resolve complex network problems at the enterprise level
  • Experience supporting hybrid on-premises and cloud network environments
  • Experience executing enterprise network changes in accordance with formal change management processes

Technical Expertise:
  • Solid proficiency in:
  • Enterprise LAN/WAN architecture and operations
  • Routing protocols (BGP, OSPF, EIGRP)
  • Switching technologies (VLANs, STP, port aggregation)
  • Wireless enterprise networking
  • SD-WAN operations and support
  • Network security fabric and firewall management
  • Working knowledge of:
  • AWS and Azure cloud networking
  • Zero Trust Network Architecture
  • Network monitoring and event management tools
