Job description

Network Administrator

NOTE: THIS JOB REQUIRES THE CANDIDATE TO ALREADY AN ACTIVE DoD CLEARANCE.

Position Overview:

The Network Administrator will serve as the organization's network SME to assist with design, optimization, and troubleshooting. This role will aid in strategic network initiatives, ensure high availability and security, and provide technical guidance across cross-functional teams. The SME will also mentor engineers, develop standards, and collaborate with leadership to align network strategy with business goals.

Job Duties:

  • Serve as the top-tier escalation point for complex network incidents and performance issues.
  • Lead the design, implementation, and optimization of LAN, WAN, WLAN, and data center networks.
  • Support the design of network architecture standards, best practices, and documentation.
  • Evaluate and recommend new networking technologies, tools, and vendors.
  • Monitor network performance, troubleshoot issues, and ensure high availability and uptime.
  • Develop and maintain network documentation, including diagrams, configurations, and standard operating procedures.
  • Collaborate with IT security to implement and enforce network security policies.
  • Contribute to IT roadmap planning and budget forecasting.
  • Stay current on industry trends and emerging technologies to recommend improvements

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of hands-on network engineer experience in implementation, troubleshooting, and design
  • Strong understanding of networking protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, BGP, OSPF, etc.).
  • Deep familiarity with Cisco, Juniper, or similar enterprise network equipment.
  • Strong knowledge of firewalls, IDS/IPS, and network access controls.
  • Excellent troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proven experience with high-availability designs and disaster recovery solutions
  • Relevant certifications such as CCNA, CCNP, or equivalent are preferred.
  • Experience in ISE and STIGs
  • Software Defined Networking (SDN) fundamentals or experience with Cisco ACI
  • Clearable US Citizen that is able to pass a background investigation in order to obtain a federal security clearance, Active Secret Clearance or higher is preferred.
  • IAT Level II certification such as CompTIA Security+ ce (or equivalent) is mandatory to Start.
