JOB PURPOSE

We are seeking a Network Engineer with a primary focus on network design, architecture, and lifecycle planning for warehouse and distribution environments. This role is ideal for a networking professional who can translate business and operational requirements into scalable, secure and resilient network solutions across multiple sites.

The Network Engineer will work with our Managed Service Provider (MSP) to architect and design LAN, WAN, wireless, and related infrastructure standards. The role will primarily focus on design and architecture activities such as site planning, network standards, coverage planning, technology refresh strategy, site design review and documentation, such as network diagrams.

The remaining portion of the role will support operational needs including project coordination, change management activities, incident triage, end user connectivity support, and oversight of implementation activities executed by the MSP and technical teams.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

Network & Infrastructure Support

  • Lead network design activities for warehouse and distribution sites, including LAN, WAN, wireless, segmentation, resiliency, and site connectivity planning.
  • Develop and maintain network architecture standards, reference designs, logical diagrams, low-level design documentation, and implementation-ready technical requirements.
  • Evaluate business, operational, and site requirements to recommend scalable network designs that support warehouse devices such as scanners, printers, cameras, alarms, and user endpoints.
  • Perform wireless planning and design validation, including coverage, capacity, roaming, interference, and access point placement considerations for warehouse environments.
  • Partner with the MSP and internal teams on technology refresh initiatives, circuit strategy, firewall and segmentation requirements, and future state network improvements.
  • Review proposed network and security changes to ensure alignment with architecture standards, resiliency requirements, supportability, and change management expectations.
  • Coordinate and approve network and security changes with internal teams and the MSP, including gathering requirements, submitting/tracking change requests (e.g., firewall rules), validating maintenance windows, ensuring pre/post change verification, and documenting updates.
  • Owns incident lifecycle from intake through resolution and escalation

Implementation & Operational Support

  • Coordinate implementation activities for approved network projects and changes, including requirement gathering, maintenance planning, cutover support, validation, and post-change review.
  • Serve as the main point of coordination for network connectivity incidents across warehouses and offsite locations. Perform initial triage, gather diagnostics, and coordinate escalation to the MSP through resolution.
  • Troubleshoot connectivity issues involving DHCP/DNS reachability, SSID association, VLAN assignment, Cisco ISE & NAC/802.1X authentication, port status, interface errors, and related network behaviors. Experience with Arista is a plus.

Administration and End User Support

  • Monitor and respond to IT tickets; triage, document, and escalate issues to the appropriate teams as needed.
  • Support and configure end user devices and warehouse technology, including printers, terminals, PDA's, scanners, and related hardware, while providing guided support to non-technical users.
  • Support other duties within the responsibility of the Infrastructure division. This includes, but is not limited to, account administration tasks, systems access request, user profile management, Systems access rights in accordance with security policies.
  • Support activities related to inventory and lifecycle management for IT assets. This includes procurement of devices, verifying device status, ownership, maintaining accurate network equipment diagrams/inventory, circuit/provider details across all locations.
  • Provide incident support for other IT Infrastructure functions as needed and participate in after hours or on-call support rotations.
