Job Purpose


Develop, manage and maintain functional, stable and secure data and communication networks that effectively support business services and operations. The position entails front-line accountability and responsibility for the day-to-day operations and monitoring of the firm's data and communications network infrastructure. This includes performance tuning and data network optimization ensuring high availability and maximum performance to all end users.  

Perform independent investigation, research and recommendation of relevant networking technologies and participates in logistical and strategic design of the data and communications network in order to ensure on-going effective support of business operations and objectives.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Monitor network performance and ensure system availability and reliability
  • Monitor resource utilization and usage trends in concert with capacity planning and system enhancements
  • Troubleshoot and resolve network related issues to support daily business needs
  • Plan, implement and support network solutions between multiple platforms using industry standard practices
  • Install, configure, maintain, troubleshoot all LAN/WAN
  • Install, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot security hardware and software
  • Perform proactive maintenance of all network and security hardware
  • Produce quality technical documentation of change and configuration management together with network diagrams in support of and as reference for project scope/s of work
  • Research, recommend and select security tools and technology
  • Mitigate information security events and work with external security providers
Qualifications

Qualifications

  • BA/BS degree or equivalent
  • 3 years + experience with demonstrated growth and development
  • Strong knowledge of TCP/IP, DNS, MPS, Layer 2 and Layer 3, and very strong knowledge of -Internet protocols, standards, and technologies
  • Strong knowledge of Internetworking principles and protocols in a TCP/IP, Windows environment including SMTP, Van's, H.323, Layer 2 & 3 switching, routing, HSRP and DNS
  • Expertise with VLANs, switching and routing protocols including HSRP, VTP, STP, BGP, and EIGRP
  • Equivalent experience levels required for Network Management (Syslog, SNMP, Network Monitor system), Security, and Project Management
  • Quality of Service (QoS) configuration and management
  • Knowledge of Cisco's Catalyst, Meraki and Nexus switch and wireless technology, Cisco's ASA and Sophos UTM Firewalls
  • Cisco certification preferred or relevant experience
  • Knowledge of telecommunications services and circuitry
  • Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills with an ability to influence others
  • Ability to function in a fast-paced, service-oriented environment, prioritize multiple projects on a daily basis, and adjust to shifting priorities
  • Strong planning, project management and organizational skills
  • Strong analytical abilities, resourcefulness, and attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team with a proactive and positive style that fosters collaborative working relationships
