About the Role
Vamonos IT is seeking an experienced Team Lead, Voice Engineering to lead the design, implementation, and ongoing support of enterprise voice and unified communications platforms. This role combines technical leadership with people leadership, serving as both a hands-on senior engineer and a mentor responsible for guiding a team of voice engineers. The ideal candidate has in-depth knowledge of Teams Telephony, including Direct Routing, Calling Plans, and voice management, along with excellent knowledge of MS Intune, including device enrollment, configuration, security, and compliance, to ensure seamless management of Teams phone devices and applications.
Required Skills & Qualifications
  • 7+ years of experience supporting enterprise voice/telephony environments
  • 2+ years in a technical lead or team lead role
  • Strong experience with one or more of the following:
    • Microsoft Teams Phone / Direct Routing / Operator Connect
    • Cisco Unified Communications Manager (CUCM)
    • Avaya Aura or comparable enterprise PBX platforms
  • Deep understanding of:
    • SIP, RTP, VoIP codecs, QoS
    • SBCs (AudioCodes, Ribbon, Oracle, or similar)
    • PSTN connectivity and number lifecycle management
  • Experience troubleshooting complex call flow and voice quality issues
  • In-Depth knowledge of Teams Call Quality Dashboards
  • Strong documentation, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience migrating legacy PBX systems to cloud or UCaaS platforms
  • Background in hybrid voice environments (on-prem + cloud)
  • Scripting or automation experience (PowerShell, APIs, or similar)
  • Industry certifications such as:
    • Microsoft 365 Certified: Teams Voice Engineer, Expert.
    • Cisco CCNP Collaboration

Responsibilities
Technical Leadership
  • Lead the design, deployment, and support of enterprise voice and unified communications solutions
  • Serve as the technical escalation point for complex voice-related issues
  • Define and maintain voice architecture standards, documentation, and best practices
  • Own voice-related capacity planning, resiliency, and high-availability designs
  • Oversee SIP trunking, SBC configurations, call routing, and number management

Team Leadership
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of voice engineers
  • Provide regular reports on Teams telephony performance and usage
  • Assign work, set priorities, and ensure SLAs are met
  • Conduct technical reviews, performance feedback, and skills development
  • Foster collaboration with Network, Security, Messaging, and Service Desk teams

Operations & Strategy
  • Partner with stakeholders on voice roadmaps and modernization initiatives
  • Ensure compliance with security, regulatory, and operational standards
  • Participate in vendor management, contract reviews, and technology evaluations
  • Drive operational efficiency through automation, monitoring, and process improvement
