Job description

Role Summary

This is a senior leadership role within Global Technology Engineering and Operations with accountability for the global network spanning on‑premises, co‑location, cloud, and third‑party environments. The leader is the authoritative expert for network infrastructure at T.RowePrice and plays a critical role in shaping and executing multi‑year platform strategy while leading teams responsible for day‑to‑day operations and transformation initiatives. The role combines technical depth with enterprise leadership, owning the strategy, architecture, reliability, modernization, and operations of the firm’s global network estate.

  • Define and execute multi‑year network platform strategy and roadmap aligned to Global Technology and cloud‑first objectives

Responsibilities
  • Own and execute the global network and connectivity strategy, spanning LAN, WAN, wireless, voice, cloud networking, and third‑party integrations
  • Contribute to target‑state architecture and lead modernization initiatives aligned to cloud, co‑location, and data‑center exit strategies
  • Lead network platform transformation initiatives, including cloud and hybrid‑cloud networking, automation and infrastructure‑as‑code where applicable, and simplification, standardization, and technical debt reduction
  • Partner with architecture, platform, SRE, security, and application leaders to ensure seamless integration of network services across the enterprise
  • Accountable for network availability, performance, resilience, and recoverability globally; oversee design and operation of solutions that prevent or minimize technology service disruptions
  • Establish and monitor KPIs, reliability metrics, and service health indicators; lead cross‑functional efforts to analyze incidents, identify root cause, and drive durable corrective actions
  • Ensure disaster recovery, redundancy, and resiliency strategies are designed, tested, and continuously improved
  • Drive adoption of automation, tooling, and telemetry to reduce manual effort and increase reliability; leverage data and metrics to guide decisions, prioritize investments, and improve operational outcomes
  • Champion modern operating practices and continuous improvement across Network Infrastructure Operations
  • Lead an organization of managers, senior engineers, and technical specialists; accountable for organizational design, capacity planning, and sustainability of the network function
  • Provide coaching, mentoring, and development for subordinate leaders and high‑potential engineers; responsible for recruiting, performance management, and succession planning
  • Own strategic vendor relationships, including contract negotiation, performance management, and cost optimization; manage budgets, vendor spend, and investment trade‑offs for the network portfolio
  • Represent the Network Infrastructure community in internal and external forums; serve as a trusted advisor to senior leaders on network risk, investment, and roadmap decisions
Qualifications

Experience & Leadership (Required): 12+ years of progressive leadership experience in modernizing and operating large‑scale enterprise network infrastructure; proven success leading complex, global technology initiatives with enterprise impact including data center migrations, cloud migration, infrastructure modernization, and always‑on infrastructure; proven experience deploying and supporting cloud platforms at scale (AWS preferred); proven ability to define, communicate, and execute multi‑year platform and modernization strategies; excellent problem‑solving and data‑driven decision making; exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate effectively across teams.

Technical Expertise (Required): Deep expertise implementing and transforming LAN, WAN, MPLS, Metropolitan Ethernet, wireless, and voice networks within highly regulated financial services or trading environments; proven experience designing and operating hybrid‑cloud connectivity solutions across AWS and Azure including Direct Connect and Express Route; demonstrated experience leading enterprise‑scale network security modernization including zero trust enablement, network segmentation, colo and cloud security transformation; established success implementing and scaling DevOps practices, tools, and frameworks (IaC, CI/CD, Agile); proven experience operating networks across corporate data centers, co‑location facilities, cloud providers (AWS and/or Azure), distributed global office locations, and third‑party providers; proficiency with network technologies such as WAN/SD‑WAN, network segmentation, zero trust architecture, wireless and remote access, DDoS mitigation, next‑generation firewalls; strong understanding of network security principles and best practices in AWS; experience integrating third‑party and partner networks into corporate environments; expertise implementing observability, telemetry, and AI Ops capabilities within a larger enterprise environment.

Preferred

Bachelor’s degree in Technology or Engineering or equivalent experience; Cisco CCIE / CISSP / AWS Security preferred; AWS Advanced Networking certification preferred. FINRA licenses are not required and will not be supported for this role.

Work Flexibility

This role is eligible for hybrid work, with up to one day per week from home.

Base Salary Ranges

Review the job posting for the specific location. $201,000 – $342,000 for Maryland, Colorado, Washington and remote workers; $221,000 – $350,000 for Washington, D.C.; $251,000 – $350,000 for NewYork, California. Placement within the range depends on relevant experience and skills.
