Job description

Position: Network Security Engineer
Position Type: Direct hire
Location: Remote (Tulsa area preferred)
Job Summary
Our client is currently looking for a Network Security Engineer that will assist customers in continually improving security posture on the network. Through automated and manual review of customer configurations and logs, these engineers identify potential vulnerabilities and opportunities for posture improvement or Best Practice alignment. They walk customers through applying the changes necessary to address the vulnerabilities observed and lead them toward Best Practices.
This company also helps customers replace legacy firewall solutions and migrate to Next Generation firewalls from Palo Alto Networks. Their engineers assess the configurations of existing customer hardware and migrate the policies, objects, interfaces, etc. to new equipment from Palo Alto Networks.
Responsibilities

  • Evaluate, test, and troubleshoot technologies.

  • Identify, diagnose, and resolve information security issues.  

  • Determine security issues that need to be addressed.  

  • Identify security strategies needed to deal with risks.  

  • Keep on top of audit logs to flag suspicious activity.  

  • Engineer, implement, and monitor security measures for the protection of customer computer systems, networks, and information.  

  • Configure and troubleshoot security infrastructure devices.

  • Supports the monitoring and maintaining network security suite of tools.

  • Attend Security update meetings with the customers to maintain relations and  keep all parties informed of current security health.

  • Work closely with SCC (Security Control Center) to ensure technical security policy balances security best practices and corporate usability. Create and maintain comprehensive documentation related to server and security infrastructure at customer sites.  


Required Experience

  • Enterprise firewall experience.

  • Proven work experience as a security engineer or information security engineer.

  • In-depth knowledge of network protocols, firewall technologies, VPNs, and network security tools.

  • Hands on experience in security systems, including firewalls, intrusion detection systems, anti-virus software, authentication systems, log management, content filtering.  

  • Able to demonstrate clear understanding of current threats to Cloud infrastructure and/or IT infrastructures at technical and managerial levels.

  • Familiarity with security hardening techniques, encryption algorithms, and secure authentication protocols.

  • Experience with web-based applications or web-services.

  • Hands on experience with managing and maintaining Access Control Lists including Elevated Privileges and enhanced privilege escalation management.  

Required Skills

  • Ability to multitask and work efficiently and effectively to meet required deadlines.

  • Must have strong problem-solving and analytical skills and demonstrate poise and ability to act calmly and competently.  

  • Ability to learn quickly and apply that knowledge .

  • Ability to work in a team environment.


Required Communication

  • Ensure that the customer knows as much as possible, as quickly as possible, about security incidents.  

  • Ability to write and verbally communicate information security and risk-related concepts effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences.  

  • Collaborate using information and knowledge sharing networks and professional relationships to achieve common goals.   

  • Must have strong interpersonal and networking skills, verbal, written communication skills  


Required Documentation

  • Write comprehensive reports including assessment-based findings, outcomes, and propositions for further system security enhancement.  

  • Create and maintain comprehensive documentation related to server and security infrastructure at customer sites.  


Required Education

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent training, education, and/or 3 years security and network experience.

  • Relevant certifications such as CISSP, CEH, CISM, CCNA Security, or equivalent are desirable. 

  • Palo Alto certifications a plus.
