Job Title: Project Manager, Fabrication & Automation

Location: Minneapolis, MN (On-site)


Position Overview

We are seeking a Project Manager for Fabrication & Automation to oversee and drive complex technical projects from initial order entry through final shipment. In this role, you will manage schedules, budgets, and procurement while acting as the primary point of contact for clients, vendors, and internal production/engineering teams.


Key Responsibilities

  • Project Execution & Tracking: Manage multiple concurrent projects, develop comprehensive schedules, monitor budgets/labor costs, and handle change orders proactively.
  • Customer Relations: Serve as the primary client liaison, providing regular status updates, reviewing specifications, and coordinating on-site customer inspections and Factory Acceptance Tests (FATs).
  • Procurement & Supply Chain: Source electrical and automation components, request quotes/lead times, manage vendor relationships, and mitigate risks associated with long-lead items.
  • Production Coordination: Collaborate with shop personnel and engineering teams, review Bills of Material (BOMs), prioritize production workflows, and resolve component availability issues.
  • Technical Oversight: Leverage working knowledge of industrial control systems (PLCs, HMIs, UL 508A) and, ideally, power distribution equipment to ensure projects meet strict industry standards.


Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related technical field.
  • Experience: 1–3 years of project management experience within utilities, manufacturing, or a similar industrial sector.
  • Technical Knowledge: Working knowledge of PLCs, HMIs, industrial networking, and control panel construction (experience with Rockwell, Siemens, Emerson, etc., is highly valued).
  • Bonus Skills: PMP certification, natural gas industry experience, and familiarity with Power Distribution Equipment (PDCs, MCCs, UL 891) are considered a strong plus.
