We are looking for a Senior Technical Program Manager to join the AWS Networking Operational Excellence team.
The ideal candidate will require proven technical project management, critical thinking and problem solving skills. The candidate should be open to new challenges, extremely good at multi-tasking, innovative, self-directed and a great team player.
Candidates should drive continuous process improvement, and collaborate effectively with cross-functional operational and software engineering teams to solve problems and implement new solutions.
You'll collaborate with people across AWS to help us deliver the highest standards deliverables for network operations. And you'll experience an inclusive culture that welcomes bold ideas and empowers you to own them to completion.

Key job responsibilities
• You'll drive both network hardware and software programs to meet the ever-growing customer demand.
• You'll manage competing cross-organizational projects/programs on a global scale.
• You'll interact cross-team Network Managers, cross-team Technical Program Managers, Engineers, and Data Center Technicians and senior management.
• You will run meetings, create and maintain timelines, and keep large, diverse groups informed of progress and obstacles.
• You'll work with engineers to develop detailed and creative solutions to complex problems, while keeping a watchful-eye on timelines and costs.
• You'll drive simplification efforts in engineering and project/program management, and architectures to unblock innovation.
• You'll partner with multiple teams across various locations to ensure priorities are agreed and outcomes are delivered.
A day in the life
Technical Program Managers in the BERE organization have a wide range of responsibilities: we work with internal partners to develop and implement the next gen infrastructures along with the tooling ecosystems to support with these platforms driving efficiency and scalability through the automation of builds, configuration deployment, and the scaling of capacity. As our network is one of the largest in the world, there is no blue print at our scale allowing our engineers to develop solutions to the complex challenges that we face daily. We encourage durable solutions that look around corners while taking into consideration our customer needs from a cost, performance, and reliability perspective. Our team develops tooling that provides the required visibility and control of traffic across the network, while prioritizing the automatic mitigation of events to minimize the impact to our customers during events.
About the team
Within AWS Networking, the Backbone, Enterprise, and Regional Engineering (BERE) organization is responsible for the design, implementation, and operations of a wide array of networking infrastructure that provide global connectivity between all AWS Regions and edge locations. We provide the massive scale required to support our AWS customers and internal services, via a network that grows by 70% annually. In addition, we have teams that are responsible for the design and operation of our global corporate office and data center network, allowing tens of thousands of Amazonians to perform their daily tasks in support of our customers. We provide software tooling that allows the global AWS footprint to scale via new Region and edge location builds, automated systems that control the flow of traffic across devices, and are building our next generation network controllers to drive improved performance and efficiency across the networks that we operate.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- 5+ years of technical product or program management experience
- 7+ years of working directly with engineering teams experience
- 3+ years of software development experience
- 5+ years of technical program management working directly with software engineering teams experience
- Experience managing programs across cross functional teams, building processes and coordinating release schedules
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- 5+ years of project management disciplines including scope, schedule, budget, quality, along with risk and critical path management experience
- Experience managing projects across cross functional teams, building sustainable processes and coordinating release schedules
- Experience defining KPI's/SLA's used to drive multi-million dollar businesses and reporting to senior leadership

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
