Job description

As an Associate Network Engineer, you will be an integral part of a dynamic team responsible for the critical support of network infrastructure within the Air National Guard (ANG). Your role will focus on the evaluation, design, and integration of various network systems, ensuring their stability, interoperability, and security. You will work under the general direction of senior network engineers and government officials to support the ANG's mission-critical IT initiatives.

Key Responsibilities: Assist in the evaluation and analysis of the existing data infrastructure, including LAN topologies, IP addressing plans, server and gateway positioning, protocol configuration, and software version deployment. Support the integration of routers, network switches, voice, video, and VoIP solutions across the ANG enterprise. Participate in the development and review of technical solutions involving virtual private networks (VPN) and provide integration services for ANG Wireless Access Points (WAPs).

Contribute to enterprise-level architectural design and modification recommendations to enhance, migrate, and secure the ANG Wide Area Network. Provide technical support for infrastructure services, including change management documentation, status reports, technical solutions, test plans-procedures, and integrated project management review briefings. Collaborate with project stakeholders to coordinate and resolve problems, analyze workflow, establish priorities, and comply with standards to meet planning, integration, and operational deadlines.

Configure network addressing and troubleshoot physical and virtual networks, leveraging knowledge of IP networking, switching concepts, VLANs, and Spanning Tree Protocol. Configure hardware/software in accordance with Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA) Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs). Maintain current network infrastructure and upgrade system capabilities as directed, ensuring compliance with established IT policies and procedures.
