Network Administrator II

Clearance: U.S. Citizen with Secret clearance (minimum)

Location: Bluegrass Station, Lexington, KY (primary); travel to Ft Walton Beach, FL and Crestview, FL may be required

Position Summary:

The Network Administrator II provides Tier 2 and Tier 3 network support for the SOFSANet enterprise. This role is responsible for the planning, implementation, management, and coordination of enterprise data, voice, and video networks, and provides high-level technical expertise across LAN/WAN infrastructure supporting PEO SOFSA operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform Tier 2 and Tier 3 network support for SOFSANet
  • Test and analyze elements of network facilities including power, software, security features, communications devices, communications lines, modems, and terminals
  • Plan, model, simulate, design, install, maintain, manage, and coordinate the enterprise network
  • Monitor and control the performance and status of network resources using software and hardware tools; identify and diagnose complex problems affecting network performance
  • Engineer enterprise data, voice, and video networks for the PEO SOFSA Enterprise
  • Establish and operate network test facilities
  • Maintain secure transfer of data to multiple locations via internal and external networks
  • Work with vendors, the Government, carriers, and technical staff on network implementation, optimization, and ongoing management
  • Provide high-level support and technical expertise in networking technology including LAN/WAN hardware, switches, bridges, and routers
  • Study vendor products to determine those that best meet the Government's needs
  • Provide guidance and direction for junior network support technicians

Required Qualifications

  • 8 years of increasingly complex and progressive experience in computer systems and network administration, including 2 years of specialized experience related to the assigned task
  • Extensive experience in network design and implementation, LAN/WAN interfacing, security, Internet protocols and TCP/IP, and server and network infrastructure
  • Strong background in DoD network (dot.mil) operations
  • Degree requirement may be substituted with experience directly supporting a DoD organization's IT/network operations

Certification Requirements

  • Appropriate certificate for system(s) being administered
  • DoD 8140 DCWF requirements for Network Operations Specialist (Work Role 441) Intermediate Qualification Level

Travel

  • Minimal; primarily on-site at Lexington, KY
