Job description

To help achieve these efforts, Stratolaunch is seeking a level II, Sr-, or Staff-level Data Systems/Network Engineer to support integration, testing, and operations of flight related networking, computer and telemetry systems.  The data system - network is critical to mission success and interfaces with multiple subsystems, therefore this position will include collaborating with other system owners to understand test requirements and operations support needs.  You must be comfortable receiving direction and guidance from lead data systems engineers and taking ownership of your responsibilities.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Contribute to data & telemetry system architecture, testing, & operation for local and extended range missions
  • Support flight operations by ensuring data system assets are prepared for flight test
  • Determine data flow based on customer needs and system capability, advocate for upgraded systems when appropriate
  • Develop and maintain software tools as required
  • Develop and support telemetry, network, & data tests as required
  • Collaborate with network engineers, data engineers, telemetry technicians as required to accomplish goals
  • Complete ownership of corporate network including switches, firewalls, routers, WiFi, NAC, cloud networking products, etc.
  • Act as an expert resource for our Engineering team to provide best practices for our Airplane and Vehicle networks
  • Be available during tests and missions on headset as a point of escalation for networking issues
  • Rack, patch, and label devices
  • Maintain updated network diagrams and documentation
  • Utilize a Change Control platform to keep changes documented
  • Keep all devices up to date, perform emergency updates if CVEs are released
  • Troubleshoot and fix network related issues
  • Work with engineering to provide support and expertise for key networks and systems
  • Act as owner of various systems relating to our vehicles, control room, and simulator, and provide maintenance and upgrades as needed
  • Provide high quality solutions to complex computer and network challenges
  • Deploy and manage servers and workstations
  • Administer network switches, routers, firewalls, load balancers, RF equipment, and VOIP
  • Provide project planning, management, and implementation
  • Work in configuration-controlled environments and abide by configuration-control policies
  • Ensure systems are well documented and implemented with best practices
  • Travel to launch and/or recovery sites to support mission operations
QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS

Required Qualifications:

  • Experience in data, telemetry, network engineering in an operational or test environment
  • Experience with network engineering, TCP/IP, UDP
  • Experience with troubleshooting Ethernet networks
  • Experience with Cisco, Juniper, Palo Alto, and Aruba both GUI and CLI
  • Experience with Aruba Clearpass
  • Experience with network monitoring including Solarwinds Orion
  • Experience with configuration and troubleshooting of IP routing protocols including BGP and OSPF
  • Experience with network protocols and technologies including STP, IPsec, NAT, AAA, 802.1X
  • Experience with server administration including Windows and Linux
  • Experience managing Active Directory, DHCP, DNS
  • Experience with server virtualization including VMware
  • Experience with packet capture and traffic analysis including Wireshark, SPAN
  • Ability to obtain and maintain Security clearance

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with IEEE 802.3 networking standards and IRIG-106 telemetry standards
  • Experience with being on a Mission Control Center console during flight operations
  • Scripting including BASH and Python
  • VOIP Administration including Cisco Call Manager
  • Communication Administration including Clearcom
  • RF Analysis
  • Security clearance

  • MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)

 

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
  • Level II ($101,000-$146,500): Bachelor's degree (B.S.) from accredited institution and 2-5 years of network engineering experience, OR equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Sr-level ($120,500-$158,00): Bachelor's degree (B.S.) from accredited institution and 5-10 years of network engineering experience, OR equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Staff-level ($157,000-$206,000): Bachelor's degree (B.S.) from accredited institution and 10-20 years of network engineering experience, OR equivalent combination of education and experience
