What does a network monitoring engineer do?

A Network Monitoring Engineer is responsible for overseeing and maintaining the health and performance of computer networks within an organization. They use specialized tools and software to monitor network traffic, identify potential issues, and respond to outages or security threats. Their role includes troubleshooting network problems, ensuring optimal network performance, and often working with other IT teams to implement solutions. By proactively monitoring network activity, they help prevent downtime and improve overall network reliability.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a network monitoring engineer?

To thrive as a Network Monitoring Engineer, you need expertise in network protocols, troubleshooting, and a solid understanding of networking concepts, typically demonstrated by a degree in computer science or a related field.
