Job description

Network Operations Intern

Leidos, a leading defense, intelligence, and technology company, is seeking a motivated Network Operations Intern to join our Digital Sector on the Global Solutions Management โ€“ Operations II (GSM-O II) contract at Hill AFB, UT. As part of our team, you'll contribute to the operations, sustainment, and defense of the Defense Information System Network (DISN) within the Department of War Information Network (DOWIN), supporting the Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA).

Gain hands-on experience in Network Operations, Network Maintenance, Network Management and Incident Management.

What You'll Do:

  • Performing incident management support for the Department of War global network
  • Creating, updating, and resolving incident tickets utilizing Service Now ITSM+
  • Monitoring internet access points for events impacting global connectivity
  • Providing real-time network monitoring utilizing various network monitoring tools
  • Reviewing, updating and developing documentation and metric collections for contract delivery
  • Providing timely situational awareness updates to leadership and customers for all network impacting events
  • Providing support for customer questions and issues during all phases of the Network Management
  • Verify that service has been restored upon resolution of customer-initiated tickets
  • Record, assess, track, and monitor incident tickets escalated to specialized teams and engineers

What You'll Bring:

  • Current enrollment in a degree granting program in a relevant discipline is required for consideration (excludes Cyber Security)
  • Familiarization with Microsoft Office, OSI Model, ServiceNow, and SharePoint
  • Ability to effectively communicate with customers, vendors, and contract personnel via telephone, electronic mail, instant messaging, and in person
  • Experience with technical writing and a working knowledge of networking concepts and topologies
  • Ability to obtain a Secret or Top Secret clearance; Secret required to start (selected candidates will be sponsored for required clearance)
  • Must be a US Citizen to qualify
  • Work must be performed on Hill AFB Utah (remote work is not available)
  • Must have own transportation to enter Hill AFB Utah
  • Obtaining a CompTIA Security+ certification (or IAT Level II equivalent) required for subsequent engagement periods and/or full-time employment upon graduation
  • Must maintain active student status, with enrollment extending into Fall 2027 and graduation no earlier than Dec 2027
