The Industrial Project Manager leads the successful execution of mission-critical industrial projects supporting national defense, nuclear energy, and next-generation technology infrastructure. This role manages medium- to large-scale project activities in industrial environments and leads end-to-end project execution with strong oversight of quality control and safety compliance. The Project Manager is skilled in planning and delivering project scope through effective communication, resource allocation, scheduling, budgeting, risk management, and required documentation to ensure on-time and on-budget results. This position also prepares project proposals, cost estimates, and budgets as needed while maintaining strong customer relationships and providing clear, timely communication with stakeholders to drive successful outcomes. The Project Manager also serves as a resource and mentor to project teams.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
To successfully perform this role, an individual must be able to carry out each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements outlined below represent the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary for the position.   • Lead end-to-end delivery of industrial and capital projects from initiation through commissioning and closeout, ensuring alignment with scope, schedule, budget, quality, and safety objectives.
  • Develop project charters, objectives, and master schedules for awarded work, including scope definition, assumptions, constraints, risk registers, key milestones, deliverables, and staffing/resource plans.
  • Create and maintain project execution plans, procurement and contracting strategies, and project governance frameworks to support successful delivery.
  • Direct project startup activities, including site readiness assessments, constructability reviews, permitting and licensing requirements, and coordination with operations and maintenance teams to minimize downtime and production disruption.
  • Prepare and manage project budgets, estimates, cash flow forecasts, and cost reports; implement effective cost control measures, including forecasting and earned value or quantity tracking as applicable, and resolve budget variances.
  • Develop and manage integrated project schedules using tools such as Primavera P6 or Microsoft Project; monitor progress and provide accurate weekly and monthly status reports, short-term look-aheads, and recovery plans as needed.
  • Lead feasibility studies and project evaluations, including cost-benefit analysis and risk assessments; provide recommendations and make project decisions within delegated authority on behalf of the company.
  • Oversee industrial field execution by leading site coordination meetings, managing RFI and submittal processes, reviewing invoices and pay applications, administering change orders, and maintaining accurate project documentation.
  • Manage contractor and vendor procurement activities, including bid solicitation, evaluation, contract negotiation, and agreement administration; ensure timely resolution of issues and compliance with contractual terms.
  • Coordinate with cross-functional stakeholders, including operations, maintenance, quality, engineering, design teams, estimators, site superintendents, subcontractors, OEMs/vendors, and general contractors.
  • Identify, negotiate, and resolve technical, operational, and interpersonal issues; develop contingency plans and mitigation strategies to address schedule, cost, supply chain, and site-related risks.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, client standards, industrial safety requirements, and applicable regulatory obligations; promote and support safe work practices during site activities.
  • Serve as a trusted internal resource and mentor to team members, providing guidance and support to strengthen project execution capabilities.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with customers, inspectors, and regulatory agencies; support audits and inspections and ensure timely resolution of findings.
  • Promote quality execution through QA/QC requirements, inspection and test plans, punch-list management, and commissioning/turnover readiness, as applicable, to achieve successful startup and client acceptance.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives, including lessons learned, standard work development, and process enhancements that improve project delivery performance across the organization.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Education & Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in construction management, engineering, or related field of study PLUS five years or more of experience in an industrial or mechanical setting; OR 10 years or more of progressively responsible experience in an industrial or mechanical setting including experience as a project manager, is required.
  • Strong knowledge of construction methods, equipment, drawings, specifications, building materials, and applicable industry standards relevant to the discipline, including system prefabrication and installation practices.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications and industry-related software, including AutoCAD, Revit, Bluebeam or Adobe Acrobat Pro, estimating software, Procore, Primavera, other project management platforms, and file-sharing systems.
  • Must be willing and able to pass additional background checks as required to meet project site requirements.

Other Details:
  • This position is based in our Duluth, MN office and requires travel to national project sites and client locations as needed up to 75% of the time.
  • Work may include longer days on job sites or in the main office and may include weekend work as needed for project support.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid state driver's license and remain in good standing in accordance with company driving policy.

Compensation & Benefits:
  • The expected annual compensation range for this position is $90,500-$135,700. Compensation offered to the selected candidate will vary depending on relevant knowledge, skills, training, experience, and market conditions.
