Job Title: Network System Engineer 

Location: Manassas, VA (Onsite)

Hours: 8-5

Job Description: 

We are seeking a multi-disciplinary individual to join our team as a Hybrid Network System Engineer. The ideal candidate should have a background across six or more of the following infrastructure disciplines: 

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Service Health Checking: Perform daily checklists to ensure service availability.
  • Physical/Remote Hands: Structured Cabling: Patch, test, troubleshoot, and maintain cabling records.
  • Physical/Remote Hands: Data Center Racking: Follow and maintain rack elevations, ensure lifting and safety protocols.
  • Physical/Remote Hands: Change Management: Manage incidents, requests, and change management ticketing systems.
  • Network: General understanding of switch management having worked with and configured both Top of Rack and Core switch with routing logic (Arista switches CloudVision).
  • AD/DNS/DHCP: Ability to configure Active Directory users and groups, maintain DNS records and zones, and set DHCP scopes. 
  • Operating systems: Familiarity with Linux and Windows Server administration and patching
  • Security: General firewall and MFA concepts and management logic. (ie: Palo Alto firewalls, GlobalProtect Remote Access VPN, and Microsoft Entra ID MFA).
  • Wireless Network: Utilize CloudVision Cognitive Unified Edge and Forescout Network Access Control (NAC).
  • Computer & Storage: Manage vSphere clusters, PowerScale storage arrays, and backup systems.
  • Cloud Integration/VPN: Handle storage account offsite backups, Microsoft Arc endpoint management, and Microsoft Sentinel SEIM.
  • Troubleshooting: Troubleshoot customer-provided applications, workstations, end-user computing laptops, and OT devices. 

Additional Common Responsibilities:

  • Network Implementation: Assist in the implementation of network infrastructure.
  • Network Equipment Support: Install, configure, and support network equipment including routers, switches, and firewalls. 
  • Network Maintenance: Perform routine network maintenance and system upgrades including service packs, patches, hot fixes, and security configurations. 
  • Network Performance Monitoring: Monitor network performance and ensure system availability and reliability. 
  • Network Troubleshooting: Troubleshoot network problems and outages, schedule upgrades, and collaborate with network architects for network optimization. 
  • Network Security: Secure network systems by establishing and enforcing policies, and defining and monitoring access. 
  • Firewall Administration: Support and administer firewall environments in line with IT security policy. 
  • Reporting: Report network operational status by gathering and prioritizing information; manage projects. 

Physical Requirements: 

  • Racking and Stacking:Physically capable of racking and stacking servers, switches, and general datacenter equipment. 
  • Lifting:Ability to lift and move equipment up to 50 pounds. 
  • Safety Protocols:Adhere to safety protocols and guidelines while handling and installing equipment. 
  • Manual Dexterity:Good manual dexterity for handling small components and tools.
