Job SummaryBasic American Foods (BAF) is seeking a Controls Engineer to support and enhance our process automation systems within a manufacturing environment. This position requires a professional with strong knowledge of controls engineering concepts, standards, and practices across BAF products and processes.The ideal candidate will have experience with programmable logic controllers (PLCs), HMI systems, industrial networks, and computer-controlled automation systems consistent with ISA-based control system practices. This role works cross-functionally to support capital projects, system improvements, and plant operations.Essential Duties & ResponsibilitiesSupport projects and key initiatives to ensure successful achievement of project goals. Communicate project status effectively to team members and stakeholders.Collaborate with controls team members on programming, simulation, testing, and start-up of control systems, including instrumentation, MCCs, control panels, and industrial network devices.Read and interpret electrical wiring schematics and validate control panel layouts. Troubleshoot AC circuits, DC circuits, and industrial network wiring.Modify, maintain, and troubleshoot PLC and HMI programs while coordinating with Process Engineers, Project Engineers, Design Engineers, IT staff, and Production and Maintenance personnel.Develop and improve control systems documentation in alignment with established guidelines and ISA standards.Maintain a thorough understanding of and adhere to BAF's electrical, mechanical, and production process standards.Follow all local, state, and national safety regulations and company policies.Education & ExperienceBachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering requiredORAssociate degree in Instrumentation and Controls with a minimum of two (2) years of related experienceORMinimum of three (3) years of relevant controls engineering experience in a manufacturing environmentKnowledge & SkillsExperience with:FactoryTalk View SE/MEWonderware InTouch and HistorianRSLogix 5/500/5000Studio 5000Microsoft Office SuiteStrong troubleshooting and analytical skillsAbility to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environmentEffective written and verbal communication skillsWork Environment & Physical RequirementsManufacturing plant environmentMust be able to lift and/or move up to 50 poundsExposure to typical plant conditions including noise, machinery, and varying temperaturesFood & Workplace SafetyProactively ensure compliance with all Federal, State, and Company safety regulations.Conduct regular behavior-based safety observations and correct unsafe conditions promptly.Uphold the principles of SQF 2000.Immediately report any food safety, food quality, or plant security concerns to management.Additional InformationThis position may be required to perform other duties as assigned.At BAF, we are an equal-opportunity employer.
