Job description

The Network Engineer will support multiple programs and initiatives, while collaborating with internal and external teams. Work independently on projects from start to finish, including planning and design of the customer premise equipment to support the telecommunications solution for the Remote Telecommunication Infrastructure Replacement (RTIR) project required to implement equipment and services deliverables for the FTI Network.
Customer Premise Equipment (CPE) Network Engineer responsibilities:
• Planning and design of the customer premise equipment to support the telecommunications solution for the Remote Telecommunication Infrastructure Replacement (RTIR) project
• Project managing the CPE design release and implementation schedule for over one thousand sites
• Interface and coordinate with appropriate implementation engineering groups to ensure designs and implementations meet the project requirements and delivery dates
• Maintain operational excellence of network systems and components during project execution
• Monitor equipment and material inventory availability and provide accurate forecasting to procurement for purchase planning
• Identify areas of opportunity for automation, process improvement and network optimization
• Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) experience a plus
Qualifications:
• Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering, Telecommunication Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Information Systems or equivalent of a 4-year accredited degree in a technical discipline.
• Bachelor's Degree and minimum 4 years of prior WAN Telecommunications networks experience or 2 years post-Secondary/ Associates Degree and a minimum of 8 years of prior WAN Telecommunications networks experience
• Highly motivated and capable of developing and following detailed instructions and action plans
• Ability to work in team environment and is self-directed and self-motivated
• Project management skills capable of adhering to deadlines and completing tasks per project schedule
• Strong skill set with Microsoft Office software applications
• Knowledge and understanding of engineering drawings and technical procedures
• Domain knowledge of the Telecommunications industry, including carrier services, provisioning terminology, CISCO routers and network infrastructure and IP technologies such as Pseudo Wire and Ethernet switching
• Ability to obtain a security clearance
Preferred Additional Skills:
• Experience with leading network vendors such as Cisco, Juniper, Fujitsu, Ciena, RAD
• Experience with database modeling software such as MetaSolv
• Familiarity in the following tools and software: AutoCAD, DICE, PDM, ClearQuest
• CCNA Certification or equivalent Cisco equipment work experience
