Job description

We are looking for a Network Engineer to support and strengthen enterprise network operations for a financial services environment in Lubbock, Texas. This position focuses on resolving complex infrastructure issues, maintaining reliable connectivity, and improving the performance of critical network and voice systems. The ideal candidate brings strong Cisco expertise, a proactive approach to troubleshooting, and the ability to communicate clearly while supporting technical needs across regional sites.
Responsibilities:
• Deliver advanced technical support for escalated network, infrastructure, and connectivity incidents affecting business operations.
• Travel within the regional area as needed to complete onsite troubleshooting, equipment replacements, and technical service requests, with travel accounting for up to 30% of the role.
• Deploy, configure, and maintain core networking equipment such as routers, switches, firewalls, and wireless access points.
• Oversee the health and performance of network environments by identifying disruptions quickly and driving timely resolution.
• Administer Cisco voice platforms, including ongoing maintenance, configuration updates, and system enhancements.
• Strengthen network protection by applying security controls, standards, and protocols aligned with organizational requirements.
• Support backup, recovery, and routine maintenance activities to preserve system availability, resiliency, and data integrity.
• Record incident details, configuration updates, inventory changes, and remediation efforts within service desk and technical documentation systems.
• Coordinate with internal stakeholders and external vendors to provide status updates, resolve service-impacting issues, and sustain high network uptime.
• Perform triage, investigate software and configuration problems, and address potential high-impact network events before they escalate.• At least 3 years of hands-on experience supporting enterprise network operations with strong knowledge of routing, Layer 2, and Layer 3 switching.
• Proven experience working with Cisco networking technologies, including routers, switches, wireless solutions, and network monitoring platforms.
• Background supporting VoIP environments and Cisco telephony systems, including Cisco CallManager and related voice infrastructure.
• Solid understanding of TCP/IP networking, Ethernet, VLANs, QoS, Wi-Fi, and IP routing protocols such as BGP and OSPF.
• Experience troubleshooting complex network issues using tools and methods such as traceroute, packet captures, and traffic analysis.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Cisco certifications are highly preferred, and additional networking coursework or industry credentials are valued.
• Prior experience in banking or financial services technology environments is strongly preferred.
