Title: Project Engineer
Location: Waverly, IA
Company: Fortune 100 Food & Beverage Manufacturing (FuseGlobal has worked with this company for 20 years)
Initial term: 6 months (position expected to run longer)
Schedule: Monday-Friday on-site

Travel: ~5%

About This Role:

Manage capital investment projects related to fixed assets, partnering with cross-functional stakeholders to support asset relocation, optimization, and acquisition from initial concept through project completion.

What You'll Do:

Management Responsibilities:

  • Propose and implement work processes in compliance with company Engineering Excellence.
  • Coordinate personnel and funding to meet project objectives.
  • Control project costs per Capital Investment Guidelines.
  • Ensure projects follow company standards.
  • Monitor projects via KPIs.
  • Integrate corporate values and business principles.

Functional Responsibilities:

  • Enforce zero tolerance for unsafe situations.
  • Maintain ethical conduct standards.
  • Promote communication across stakeholders.
  • Drive efficient operations and Good Hygienic Engineering (NGHE).
  • Ensure compliance with NQS, HACCP, OSHA.
  • Encourage continuous improvement.
  • Protect proprietary knowledge.
  • Maintain client requirements.

Conceptual phase responsibilities:

  • Ensure sustainability and positive ROI.
  • Challenge documentation and prepare approvals.

Design phase responsibilities:

  • Ensure proper asset design and fit-for-purpose technology.
  • Conduct Value Engineering Analysis.
  • Focus on cost-efficient operations.

Implementation phase responsibilities:

  • Maintain safe worksites and installations.
  • Define scope and milestones with suppliers.
  • Use project management tools (MS Project, SAP-PS, FMEA).
  • Provide monthly progress reports.

Start-up/close out phase responsibilities:

  • Deliver project within cost and timeline.
  • Ensure training and documentation.
  • Manage asset allocation and project files.
  • Complete final reports.

What You Bring:

  • Degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Process, Chemical, Electrical, etc.).
  • Minimum 1-3+ years of relevant experience and achievement in a technical field with a project engineering background.
  • Project Management and/or Process Engineering experience within the food, dairy, cosmetic, pharmaceutical, or consumer products industry is a plus.
  • Strong leadership and technical skills.
  • Project engineering and plant design.
  • Equipment procurement and contracts.
  • Knowledge of hygiene and food safety standards.
  • Financial analysis and CAPEX budgeting.
