We deliver on our promise of Strong Minds, Good Hearts™ through an education model that gives every student the opportunity for success. The Network Engineer I supports the daily operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of enterprise network infrastructure across Charter Schools USA campuses and operational facilities. This role assists with maintaining reliable connectivity across switching infrastructure, wireless networks, WAN services, and related network systems that support digital learning platforms and school operations. The position works closely with senior networking staff and infrastructure leadership to ensure that network services remain stable and responsive across the CSUSA network. The Network Engineer I also supports infrastructure deployments, equipment installations, and operational monitoring to ensure that networking systems remain reliable and aligned with organizational technology standards.

Responsibilities

  • The Network Engineer I contributes to the success of students and educators by helping maintain reliable network connectivity across CSUSA schools and operational facilities.
  • Reliable network infrastructure enables access to instructional technology platforms, digital curriculum systems, communication tools, and operational applications used throughout the organization. By assisting with the maintenance and troubleshooting of networking systems, this role helps ensure that school operations and instructional environments remain fully connected.
  • The position also contributes to infrastructure modernization initiatives by supporting equipment upgrades, campus network refresh projects, and new school technology deployments.

Network Infrastructure Support

  • Assist with monitoring and maintaining switching infrastructure, wireless networks, and WAN connectivity services across multiple campuses.
  • Support configuration and maintenance of network switches, wireless access points, and related infrastructure devices.
  • Assist with monitoring network alerts and system health using network management platforms.

Infrastructure Deployment Assistance

  • Support network infrastructure deployments for new school openings, campus relocations, and network refresh initiatives.
  • Assist with installation and configuration of switching equipment, wireless access points, and network cabling.
  • Coordinate with vendors and internal teams during infrastructure deployments.

Troubleshooting and Issue Resolution

  • Provide first-level troubleshooting for network connectivity issues affecting schools or operational systems.
  • Assist with diagnosing connectivity issues involving switching infrastructure, wireless networks, or WAN circuits.
  • Escalate complex networking issues to senior engineers when necessary.

Vendor and Service Provider Coordination

  • Assist with coordinating support requests with telecommunications providers and equipment vendors.
  • Track service requests and follow up on incident resolution.

Documentation and Asset Management

  • Maintain network device inventory records and assist with updating infrastructure documentation.
  • Support updates to network diagrams, device configurations, and deployment records.
  • Ensure documentation remains accurate following infrastructure changes.

Requirements

  • The ideal candidate demonstrates foundational knowledge of enterprise networking technologies and the ability to troubleshoot networking issues in distributed environments.
  • Candidates should possess a basic understanding of switching, routing, wireless networking technologies, and WAN connectivity services. Familiarity with network monitoring tools and infrastructure management platforms is beneficial.
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills are required to diagnose network issues, assist with incident resolution, and maintain operational stability across multiple campuses.
  • Candidates must demonstrate strong communication and collaboration skills when working with infrastructure teams, vendors, and school personnel.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Network Engineering, or a related technical field is preferred. Equivalent professional experience supporting enterprise network environments may be considered.
  • Candidates should have a minimum of 2-4 years of experience supporting networking infrastructure or related IT systems.
  • Professional certifications such as Cisco CCNA, Aruba Certified Associate, or equivalent networking certifications are beneficial but not required.
  • Willingness to travel to school campuses when needed to support infrastructure deployments, troubleshooting efforts, or equipment installations.
  • Ability to support occasional evening or weekend maintenance windows when required.
  • May perform other duties as assigned.
