Job description

As an Engineer, Technical Services, you will support fleet-wide engineering efforts that improve the reliability, performance, and long-term effectiveness of Associated Electric Cooperative's generation assets. You'll work across HRSG systems, high energy piping, emissions-control equipment, and plant reliability programs to help turn complex technical issues into practical solutions that keep power generation operations moving safely and efficiently.
What You'll Do
  • Support HRSG reliability efforts through inspection planning, outage coordination, condition assessments, and follow-up actions.
  • Assist with outage execution by evaluating equipment condition, documenting findings, and coordinating repair recommendations.
  • Lead mechanical and operational support for SCR catalyst management, including vendor coordination, cleaning strategies, replacement planning, and outage activities.
  • Develop scopes of work, technical bid evaluations, project plans, cost estimates, and maintenance recommendations for assigned systems.
  • Collaborate with plant personnel, contractors, vendors, and internal technical experts to solve equipment reliability and performance challenges.
  • Support continuous improvement across power generation, emissions-control systems, outage planning, and long-range maintenance strategies.

What You'll Need
  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or a related engineering field from an accredited institution, or equivalent work experience.
  • Engineering experience in power generation, industrial process equipment, boiler or HRSG systems, emissions-control systems, or related fields.
  • Working knowledge of mechanical systems, inspection planning, maintenance coordination, and equipment reliability principles.
  • Familiarity with outage support, contractor coordination, technical specifications, and engineering project support.
  • Ability to analyze technical issues, manage multiple priorities, and clearly communicate recommendations to plant and corporate stakeholders.

Preferred
  • Experience with HRSG systems, pressure-part equipment, emissions-control equipment, or catalyst-related systems.
  • Experience with vendor coordination, lifecycle planning, and long-range maintenance or capital planning.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to translate technical findings into clear, actionable work scopes.
  • Collaborative approach and ability to build effective relationships across plant, engineering, and vendor teams.
  • Experience in piping weld procedures, inspections, and code compliance
